Where Should I Apply For My Private Student Loan?

First, I already filed the FAFSA and the university I'm going to in the fall (I'll be a freshman) sent me my financial aid package. It says that what the grants, perkins and stafford loans, and work-study won't cover, the PLUS loan (about $13,000) will.

However my mom thinks her credit is not good enough for me to be able to get a PLUS loan from any lender so she says I have to get a private loan without a cosigner. Since I don't have any credit and now not a cosigner, I know it's going to be difficult to be approved for a loan of that amount.

Where should I apply for a loan that doesn't require a credit history and cosigner? The university's website suggests Sallie Mae and Citibank but from my research both require good credit and/or cosigner. But I could be wrong. Other places I am looking at are US Bank and Chase. Has anyone been or know anyone in the same situation as me? What did you do?

I don't work now but I will work at least two jobs in the summer.

Private student loans are evil and should never be taken out by anyone... freshman especially. If your mothers credit is not good enough to take out the PLUS loan, they will offer the PLUS loan to you instead.
This is your best option, besides finding a cheaper school you can attend without loans... why don't you do your first semester or two at a community college so you don't have to do so many loans?
