When Obama campaign talks about "dignity promotion" in Foreign policy what does that mean?

Tell me what it translates into, in real tangible things. Illustrate with some concrete examples. For example, is removing saddam from kuwait "dignity promotion"? Would Barack go to war over Darfur? Would Barack attack a regime like the South African Apartheid regime? Or does "dignity promotion" represent codewords for increased amounts of aid to every continent on the globe?

Tell me how this policy position marries up to the scaling back of defense and weapons research that Barack Hussein wants.

I think its funny that Yahoo! Answers suggests this question belongs in "Words & Wordplay"

name.. it doesnt help to respond to a question when you have nothing to say. same as it doesnt help to vote for a candidate when you have no clue on his policy statements

Absolutely nothing.

Haha

Cause even Yahoo knows that Barack's campaign is based on wordplay.

No one knows what he is going to do, he is so vague

Dont understand how his supporters are blinded by his speeches, yet look past his utter lack of qualifications and capability...

don't know the answers to your ?'s but it doesn't help to use his middle name. you are not helping the rep. party by using it. So unless your an independent bigget then i'd just shut up.

Hummm. It seems the words are empty, and without meaning for the voters. I often wonder when someone listens to a politician speak, then walks away and reviews the speech if they can recall in understandable terms just what was said. And so it goes with obama-words. Bill Clinton hit the nail on the head with all the whining obama does-he said if he didnt want to get beat up he shouldnt be in politics. I thought it was amusing and summed up the battle.

Perhaps to the uninspired it is just word play. To me and millions of others it is restoring out respect in the world destroyed by an administration who violated the constitution touched people in our names. The trader GWB sacrificed our dignity now we must show the world that we are not like this sadist but a people who will do the right thing for the right reason.

I think like most politicians he is being deliberately vague. I would suspect that he is not above the use of military power, as his comments about bombing Pakistan suggest. Though he is opposed to long, nasty hard wars (as if there really are any other kind) as his comments on Iraq suggest. He is keenly focused on Africa, as his pledge to send out $800 billion in aid to combat poverty suggests.

Other than that, I could only speculate.

First legitimate question I have seen on here in a long time.. Thank you, Stevie.

Obama's idea of "dignity promotion" was a representation of what he feels is wrong with "democracy promotion." The idea is to change the way that we, as Americans, think about foreign policy. He has several good points, in my opinion.

"Barack Hussein" is against the idea that across the globe, our (the U.S.'s) self-righteous belief of promoting democracy will make every country, race, culture, etc., better. In actuality, many cultures are developing, or already have developed, a profound hatred towards America. We are not considering other cultures in our promotion of democracy, but simply enforcing it upon them with OUR best interests in mind. Great for self defense - bad for foreign relations.

Obama feels that this is a LOT more than just a war in Iraq and the ousting of Saddam Hussein. It is, and has been, a fo-po blunder that has evolved over the many years from shoving our beliefs down other nation's throats. Now, I'm willing to bet that Obama does not expect radical change right off of the bat, but I believe that changing the way that we look at foreign policy is not a bad thing whatsoever. Increasing negotiations and decreasing war spending (which would be very easy being that we just requested $515.4 billion for the next fiscal year) in my mind would be a step in the correct direction. Otherwise, where do we go from here? We are spending the most on military that we have in our nation's history right now, and our economy is in shambles, not to mention our health care system and social security.

As far as your more indepth comments about taking action, I would not be able to answer for Obama.
