Question for teachers. I need to know how technology can be used to aid in teaching K-5.?

A friend of mine is doing a research paper for her masters and is focusing on the use of technology within the elementary schools and how it can be utilized to aid and improve the educational experience for children.

K-6 Rehearsal of basic facts through games.
3-6 Learning to do basic functions on productivity software--keyboarding skills, word processing skills, spreadsheets, power point presentations, etc.
3-6 Basic researching skills on the internet--use of keywords, internet terms and how to cite sources for reports
K-6 Creativity for drawing, photography, coloring, strategy games, writing projects
Teachers - Many resources for downloadable worksheets, lesson plans, etc.

That's a few off the top of my head. There is a book that is a nice resource for classroom teachers as well as homeschoolers--The Homeschool Software Guide, by Kihlstadius. Good evaluation of CD versions of educational software.

I was doing some kind of classroom interns and the 4th grade class that I worked with-their teacher had them do an indept research assignment on the topic of their choice. The results were amazing. The students learned to do research reports from the information they found on the websites that are meant for educational purposes. Another thing is that they can learn alot about computer skills, which is very helpful in the real world. There are also many educational programs and softwares out there. From experience, I really learned alot from these. just a few ideas.
