Unique and interesting informative speech ideas?

I need a good informative speech topic. It needs to be something that I can make fresh and new (meaning have up to date information or be latest news), and I would like to do something interesting and unique, but nothing to weird anyone out. paranormal ideas interest me, but something that is fresh and new? I have to have 2 presentational aids along with it and 6 sources, some not internet sources, so it must be something I can research. I am in college, but it cannot be too offensive. also, the teacher is VERY liberal, so I would prefer not to do anything that would go completely against her beliefs since she decides my grade. Speech must be 7-9 minutes long too.

Instead of paranormal, I should have said exotic or an adventure, though interestest paranormal topics are acceptable too.

Perhaps one of your topics could be about the importance of Global Warming. You could certainly discuss Gore (King of Liberals), and his recent book/movie. Along with this mention the polar ice caps melting, hurricanes, etc....

Next, in line with this, to make it easier for you, perhaps your second topic could be about whether or not the U.S. is prepared for a serious natural catastrophe. You could reference Hurricane Katrina, FEMA (former director: Mike Brown), and the impact on Americans living in that area.

You will undoubtedly find great books and journal articles discussing both of these topics, and you can really tie these two speeches together. You know, scientists say that global warming is increasing the amount and intensity of hurricanes, etc...

Well, I'm not sure about paranormal because informative speeches usually require a definitive amount of fact. You're only going to find speculative information if you research the paranormal. How about Korean Culture considering that's pretty hot right now. I spent a year in South Korea and they're an interesting culture. Their culture has primarily been untouched by Westernization until about the 2nd world war. After the Korean war, the south koreans were obsessed with progressing economically and it really shows today. I'd have to say the south korean technology is ahead of ours by about 3 years or so. North Korea is another story. The people there are starving and the leaders are extremely jealous of the south korean progression as a result of foreign aid (ie. U.S, England, etc.). Their little 'display' the other day is to generate trade agreements for North Korea that the US is working out with Iran for basically the same thing. It's like a kid who sees it's siblings getting attention for acting up, so what's the only logical thing to do if you want attention...act up. Anyway, hope maybe this gave you a bit of an idea how to start. I think a liberal instructor might like this topic, but DON'T add any opinion! An informative paper is just fact! You may have to 'police ' yourself along the way to be sure there isn't opinion, but with practice, you'll begin to see where the opinion tends to sneak into your writing. Good luck!

I gave a speech on Making Moonshine once! Hey, I'm from KY! Foxfire has alot of good articles on the subject. can't remember all the details now but it has to do with adding sugar to corn, fermenting and cooking it. Can be dangerous to drink if person making it doesn't know what there doing. Alot of older people around here made it during the Depression to have money to live on. Of course it's illegal. It would be interesting tho!
