i just need help putting it together a better. and maybe i could add something. maybe something interesting. my speech in dull. and my vocab is terrible. i need something to really persuade folks. i would have picked an easier topic, but my teacher told me i had to use the same topic from my research paper ( which is no fun). so im stuck with the most difficult topic of all.

More pregnancies are terminated in one year than all of aids cases combined in the past twenty years And Approximately 4000 abortions occur per day. Day after day, week after week, year after year, innocent unborn children are quietly destroyed behind sterile clinic doors. . .and no one seems to care. Abortion needs to be stopped. Fetuses are living human beings. Some might argue this question. but a human being eats and grows overtime just like we do. What if you made your mom decided she didn't want to have anything to do with YOU anymore, so she just threw you off a cliff. and KILLED YOU. It's not any different from aborting a fetus, killing a human child.
They鈥檙e defenseless human beings depending on us to develop. and just think, some day they might grow up to be a person of history.
What if Abraham Lincoln Wasn鈥檛 born? Or Martin Luther king? What if their mothers decided to abort them? then what? They wouldn't have been able to make the decisions and changes that they have made today. Abortion should be legal only in cases of medical problems or conditions. "What about rape or incest?",one might ask. well for one thing, rape cases are very rare. And if it does happen, it doesn't give woman the right to abort the child. The child doesn't deserve to suffer because of someone else's wrong doings. Instead of allowing them to abort. They should just have the child, and if they need to, they should seek counseling. if they choose to, they can give it up for adoption. If not there are plenty of ways to get help, so you can take care of your child. food stamps, free health care, charity, and so on. A friend of my mom, is a police officer working at a good job. she gets child support, they pay for her rent, schooling, food, etc. "well if we make abortions illegal, the population will rise.". that's not true. The u.s. and Canada population is quit low. its just from immigration. More people coming in more developed countries leaving fewer people in other countries. One most ponder this thought before I begin my speech, what if Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, Martin Luther King, Jr. or Mother Theresa had been aborted? Yes, the world would of been different place.

Yes, they are living, growing children whom depend on their mother for feeding , nurturing and housing them for 9 months. Just as your mother does for you now that you are out of the womb.

Look at the options - there are so many couples that desire a child but cannot conceive. New laws have been enacted that if you relinquish your child to a fire station or hospital in the first 72 hours of birth - you merely drop he/she off and no questions are asked.
What about the population boom? We can hardly feed the people of the world now!
True, the population of the world is growing, but population is not much of a problem in the United States. With a birth every 8 seconds and a death every 11 seconds, the U.S. population is growing at less than one percent per year.
Population growth or decline compares replacement of the current number of reproductive age individuals with the number of babies being born. By this measure, the United States is now in a sharp population decline.
Are you ProLife or ProChoice? You know what I am. Well, if I were you, I would get your information correct first.

And yes, if it were illegal, the population would not rise--but because more women would die trying to get illegal abortions. I would say that you have not answered the question. You have not mentioned the things that would NOT have happened if Lincoln had not lived. I think that you should do a bit of research on Lincoln.
I think that you should be trying to show that when a fetus is aborted, society may be deprived of somebody who would have done something valuable to help the world.
If Lincoln had not lived, would blacks still be slave? Would there have been a civil war? etc?
Good luck. You are obviously going to get a lot of inflamed comments so just ignore it. I'm not going to get sucked into the ethical debate over abortion (I am with you on this though). As for your speech, I would change a few things. My biggest suggestion is not to make flat statements of your belief but provide FACTS about WHY you have come to this conclusion. If you want a speech that will provoke heated arguments and shouting matches, you can just state that abortion is wrong, evil, etc etc. with examples such as you gave of throwing someone off a cliff. It will be met with defensiveness though. If you want a speech that will make people stop and think, you need to be less abrasive in your approach. Nobody wants to hear that their view is wrong. Tell someone that and and they immediately bristle and say "no I'm not!". Instead, lead them through your thought processes to where you arrive at your conclusion- and maybe in doing that they will see where you are coming from and stop and think- perhaps even change their views or at least be less dogmatic.
So... my point is, I think your statements right now are coming across as argumentative and that is not going to get you anywhere.
You might want to jot down for yourself some notes on WHY you believe it is wrong. Don't stop with religious reasons either. Is it because you have seen sonograms of fetuses and watched their hearts beating, seen them sucking their thumbs and moving their limbs? Is it because you have known someone who has gone through an abortion and admits that they never forget that child, wondering what they would look like now? Is it because you think every child has the capacity to be a history maker? Right down all your reasons and then try to incorporate them into your speech in such a way that does not sound too accusatory.
By the way, can I ask how old you are? Or what grade you are in? In my opinion, your speech reflects your anti-abortion sentiments. Which is your right to express of course.
Your speech is not really answering the question asked. What if Abraham Lincoln's mother had chosen an abortion?
Ask yourself these questions while answering:
Would she even have lived through it? Where those sorts of choices even available at that time? You can focus on the history rather than the current sentiment.
I realize you are probably a young lady, but unless you have been beaten and then raped by a total stranger, it should be difficult for you to comment on that person's experiences and how they chose to deal with the consequences.
