Why so many myths about being left handed people (such as being gay)?

I am disgusted at how many stupid ideas there are about left handed people.
The most supremely annoying thing is the thought that left handed people are 30% more likely to be gay and die from AIDS? Where did that nonsense come from? Because I can't think of one person who died of AIDS or was gay who is left handed in fact, I don't think it ever happened. I know a few gay people but they're all right handed.
I hate the thought of being associated with something just because I'm left handed. So where is all this stuff coming from (research wise) and, is it fair?

Historically, left handed people have always been squatted on (as with anybody is is different from the norm). It all comes from superstition thinking that the right is good and the left is evil. A person can have a "right hand man", Jesus places God's followers on the right hand and the non followers on the left (Matthew 25:33). So, it's coming from our lovely superstitious ancestors and, no, it isn't fair. By now everyone should know it's genetics, not an inherent evil.

I don't know about the "dying of AIDS" thing, but the being left handed and being gay...yeah, I'd have to say it's probably not that far off.

Left handed people tend to be more artistic and fluid. Sexuality tends to run along the same lines.

AIDS is a viral disease, viruses don't descriminate. They attack equally, those who are exposed to them. World wide, more heterosexuals die of HIV/AIDS than do homosexuals.

Unsafe sexual behavior will put any person at a higher HIV infection risk.
Oddly enough, lesbians are one of the lowest risk groups for contracting HIV. We tend not to sleep around, practice safe sexual habits on a more consistant basis and many never have sex with men.

ANYONE, male, female, gay or straight who engage in unprotected Anal sex are at a much higher risk for contracting HIV.

The largest growing group of HIV infections are unmarried, pre-pubescent African girls.
Sadly, it's a widely believed myth of many African males that by having sex with a virgin they will cure themselves of HIV/AIDS. Because of this myth, many little girls are being RAPED in a vain attempt by their attackers to "cure" themselves. All this does is spread HIV more widely and rapidly.
