Is there financial aid for postgraduate students from the US, in the UK? |
I have started doing some research on Universities in the UK for postgraduate studies, and I am trying to find financial aid information for students from the US. I will be graduating from a US University in fall with a bachelors degree, and would like to get a masters degree at a university in the UK, but would need assistance with finances. Different scholarships and bursaries are available for different postgraduate courses and universities - there aren't any specific funds set aside centrally. The best thing to do would be to visit the websites of departments/universities that you are interested in and see what funding is available from them - click on links to 'finance' or 'bursaries' or the 'student office'. Alternatively contact your chosen places and ask them, and they will be able to provide you with advice on what funding might be available to you. You may also be able to access graduate career development loans, which are at a preferential interest rate and don't require you to start paying back until the course is over. Sadly there isn't enough financial aid for UK students in this country, so would be surprised if there was for overseas students. Good luck with it though. try for www.scholarships.com Yeah, no problem. It is called Macdonalds. There are friendly branches on every high street in the UK. Just pop in and ask for a McJob. Sallie Mae Interenational works with US students studying abroad as well as international students who want to study in the US. There are student loans available, both private and federal ones, to meet your funding needs. The US Department of Education has approved a number of overseas schools as being eligible to participate in the US student loan program. To find out if any of the schools you are looking at have been approved go to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov and click on 'search for schools.' Perform a search for the schools and, if listed, then they have been approved and you'll be able to complete the application on line at the same website. If not listed then not approved and you can't go this route. In my experience, if it's not listed on the site, unless the school you attend can help financially you're probably looking at footing the bill on your own. |
