Donating to the bill and mellinda gates foundation?

i found out that they donated only 3 million to the tsunami effort the worst single disaster this decade where over two hundred thousand peole died when they donated 210 million dollars to cambridge university for foreighn students and may i remind you foreighn students must be rich to come to cambridge and afford fees also they are only around 100 a year also they pay 800 million to research into major disease research but they payed 1 billion for black college funds as a black person i do think yeh it is important but definately not more important then aids and all the other deadly diseases now i dont mind if its just their money but they fundraise and take money from other people forexample warren buffet pledged to give a large percentage of his 37 billion charity donation so waht i mean is if they are taking money from other people they should spend it on things not close to their heart like libraries etc but poverty etc and etc they only payed 0.5 mil to to the kashmiri earthquake

and also do you agree that it would be better to donate to other charities eg oxfam

As you said. It is their foundation and primarily their money. They can support whichever endeavors they choose.

The phrase "They only donated 3 million to the tsunami.." is interesting. 3 million is a lot of money. Only a half million to the earthquake... Why do you question the generosity of others?

If you don't like their foundation, don't donate to it. If you can do better, start your own. The Gates family are the most philanthropic family of our times. Kudos to them.

Oprah Winfrey gives cars to her audience and starts a school in Africa. The comparisons are obvious.

I firmly believe that their foundation does great good, especially as far as education.

I respect your perspective but it's their foundation based upon their success. They don't have to give anywhere or to anyone yet they do.

We each have a social responsibility to the degree that we are aware - able - or accept.

Perhaps there is a philanthropist within you waiting to be expressed. Until you become a billionaire, donate your time - money or clicks (there are free one click charities online)

Who are you to question how anyone donates their money?

If AIDS is so important to you, YOU start a charitable organization. There are numerous charities that give to AIDS and AIDS research.

We can keep throwing money to relieve poverty, but that is not the way to do it. You donate money to help others HELP THEMSELVES.

If I donate money to an organization (which I do) I donate to those I feel reflect what I care about, just like all donors do. Charities don't forcibly take money from people!

They could kill a President for $3,000,000.00 USD or buy a $500,000.00 USD Jean-Michel Basquiat but they prefer to help others they don't know.
