St. Andrews School in Delaware?

Anyone have any info on this school. Like how hard acceptance is. The amount of fiancial aid available. If someone could do some research...ive done like 2 hours of it...and finds anything i didnt it would be helpful!

Did you apply this year? I did, and am just putting the finishing touches on all of my financial aid paperwork. If you have any very specific questions, feel free to ask me through email. The assistant director of admissions there, Mr. Alleyne, taught at my school last year and has helped me out with everything. This is all of the information I have gathered about financial aid and acceptance from conversations with Mr. Alleyne, Mrs. Zendt (director of admission and financial aid) and from the website or viewbook:

Acceptance:
I remember reading somewhere than about 32% of applicants are accepted, give or take. Mrs. Zendt also told me, during our phone interview, that admission is very competitive for girls going into 9th grade, which I am applying for. They look for interesting people who will bring something different to classroom discussions and things like that, and people with good grades and reccomendations. Admission is not based on financial things, and they dont even look at your financial situation until after they've accpeted you. The admissions commitee looks over applications about 40 at a time and discusses them together. Applications are due Jan. 15, and teacher recs. are due by Jan. 31. Decisions are mailed out March 10. SSAT (secondary schools admissions test) scores are also important, though they won't determine completely whether or not you get in. The school code is 6280 and the test is $50, I think. You can also get a fee waiver for the SSAT and/ or the application fee. The SSATs are given in Nov., Dec., Jan., and maybe Feb. too. I would reccomend buying an SSSAT study guide or checking one out from the library. Studying always helps.

Financial Aid:
Some people pay $10, 000 a year, some pay $1,000, some pay full tuition, and some pay nothing. It all depends on what your parents can afford. Mr. Alleyne was telling my mom and I that when he went to SAS, they ended up paying him like $500 a month to go there. It is all very fair. The parent's financial statement, which you can fill out on https://www.sss.ets.org, is due by Feb. 1 and costs $22 per school it is sent too. Again, SAS's school code is 6280. The financial aid questionnaire, along with your parent's 2006 and 2007 taxes, are due by Feb. 15. You can get the questionnaire from the school website. They are not extremely strict about the tax deadlines, so don't worry about it too much. Just make sure to email or call them if you know that your forms will be late. I've been told many times that St. Andrew's will work very hard to make it possible for any accepted students to be able to afford to go to the school. They accpet any student they think will do well there, "regardless of means."

So, what grade are you applying for? Have you taken your SSAT? I took mine Jan. 12 and got the 99th percentile in math, 95th, 96th, or 97th in vocab. (I'm not sure), and 91st in reading. The whole thing, applying for admission and financial aid, has been terrible for my nerves. Another thing I would recommend: if you like to draw or write, send in a few samples of your work with your application. I asked Mr. Alleyne about it, and he said that that kind of thing is always looked at and considered. I sent in two of my writing pieces, but I didn't send any of my artwork (I should've). Oh, and always feel free to email Mrs. Zendt or other admissions workers there to ask questions. Part of their job is helping students who are applying. Check out some the websites I'll list!

Here's a site i found from google: http://www.standrews-de.org/

Hope it helps
