For Fundamentalist Christian Preachers, what would you do if you encountered this scene?

You're preaching in the middle of a college campus and you suddenly notice people running towards a crowd forming a ring nearby. As you approach you hear shouts and cheers and you see two people dueling, using the art of Kendo. (For those unfamiliar, this is the Japanese martial art of fencing, using bamboo swords)

The two opponents are battling it out just in their normal clothes and in the middle is a guy holding two different colored flags. The crowd is cheering as the two fight with skill and precision. The two fighters seem to be ignoring the crowd and just focused on their duel.

Would you________

a. go back to what you were doing.( If so, why?)
b. have something to say. (If so, what and why?)

This question may seem a little weird but it's to aid my research paper in Sociology so please be honest with your answers. Thank You.

Additional info (Forgot to add this part, sorry)

You hear from a couple of people near you that the winner of the fight gets the loser's turf.

I would have something to say because fighting can hurt people (well, duh!!). If they were just having a bit of fun and it was obvious no one was getting hurt I might leave them alone, but use it as an example in my speech, but if they were fighting cos they were mad or something I'd turn into a version of John Welch and break it up. John Welch was an amazing preacher who preached in France, England and Scotland. He married the daughter of John Knox. Read his book for more info!

I would ignore it.

Edit: Oh. Because it is none of my business what they do and I do not want to interrupt them.

Why is there not a c, would you watch then return to what you were doing? That is probably what I would do to learn about this and if there was some way to spring board to using this scene for a Gospel presentation, then I would use it. I can see the battle being used as a great analogy for our fight against sin daily and only with the correct training and weapons can we fight the temptation. But with only the two choices, I would say A.

Well, if I was a "fundamentalist Christian preacher" (lol), I would hope that I wasn't just dictated by conventional wisdom and "bible knowledge." I would hope that I would be in touch with the will of God, and the Holy Spirit, enough that I would know what God was leading me to do in that scenario.

God is NEVER irrelevant or out of the loop, not in a Taekwando duel, or in people snoring in the middle of a sermon, or in prostitutes on the street selling crack. He is ALWAYS present, always full of love and power, and I would hope that, as a Preacher, I would be able to impart that in ANY situation I encountered, even a situation as hilariously random as the one you described. =)

B.

ill use them as an example it whatever i am preaching..
it can be the fight between good and evil, then the crowd would think its part of my sermon,..lol
ill walk towards them as i continue to preach, then walk around them in circles and continue preaching.. And at the end, i will stand in between them, ending my sermon and ending their battle. As i leave, i will say, my words can only do so much, it is up to you to follow or continue with your non-sense, speaking to everybody not just the kendo warriors..if they continue, my sermon is complete, if they stop, my sermon was heard..

Amazing..

i would like to hear more about your paper...
interesting.

I would use it as an analogy of the battle between the flesh and the Spirit that leads to temptation. Noting that opponents strike tactically much like Satan's lures would be. He knows people wouldn't want to do out right evil so he will strike tactically to something more subtle and attractive to lure you into the trap of an addictive behavior.

Maybe something on those lines.

knowling the mindset of the martial artists is more atuned to a real and sane life I would take my leave to preach my delusional schizophrenic superstitious message to the crowd that came to hear the charlatan and let it go at that .
