What impact do you think desktop computers have on society? HELP PLZ?

Just stop and thing about that question for a minute. When you are done just think about what everyone is doing right now on this website. How many people do you think are sitting at their desktops right now and you will have your answer.

Obesity for one. I can stay on the computer for hours when I could be like running or something.
Second is laziness for the same reason.
Third, people become dependent on computer. No more research is done by hand, its mainly found on wikipedia. Or dictionary.com is a hell of a lot easier than opening up a dictionary and flipping through pages.
AND sometimes it is not safe at all with preadators and spyware and online shopping with credit card information being stolen.

i think it will have a positive and negative impact.
positive being that, if they can take a computer and condense it into a laptop, that means they can possibly condense other items, like the dvd player, tv etc. not only will it help with eletronics, it could help in the hospitals in that it could increase the space needed if certain instruments were smaller. negative being that, it will increase laziness, sloth. if children were to grow up with a desktop, they would constantly be on the desktop playing their games, deteriorating they time, youth, and eyes.

Intercommunication. Knowledge spreads. People exchange ideas over the internet. Computing speed allows for real time gaming and interaction with millions of other people. Commerce takes place on line.

Our world is reaching out to itself. To those of us who have the internet and desktop computer, we're a more global society than ever before. Those who don't have these things will be left behind in the dust.
