Why do super rich people like celebrities, spend there money on stupid stuff like $ 300,000 cars?

I am not in any way, shape, or form hating on any person who is a multimillionaire or wealthier, but why do a lot of them feel the need to spend millions upon millions on $ 300,000 cars, or jewelry that like $ 100,00, or spend it on homes that are like $ 18 million dollars. If I was in there position with millions like that, yes I would stay in a nice home, but even then it wouldn't be over 1 million dollars, all homes do the same thing provide a room over my head, and four walls, i would drive a nice car like a 2008 Tahoe, or 2008 Avalon, heck I may even would buy a Mercedes or something like that since i actually like them, but i wouldn't spend over $ 50,00 for it. Basically if I had cash like they do I would remember people in American and other countries need some of it a lot more than i do. I would definitley donate millions to charity, and to aid research, and I would help build school, and build homes for low income families, i would give away millions and think nothing of it

Because they can ..........got a problem with it?
or are you just secretly jealous? why would you care how rich people spend their money??

Easy sentiments when you have no money!

If one has the money, does it matter what it is spent on?

The super rich behave just like you did ... get a nice 2008 Tahoe or 2008 Avalon then a Mercedes! Why would you not settle for a 1995 Ford for instance?
Remember the more you get rich, the more opulent you become, you think big, spend big, eat big, drink expensive wines and yearn for designer suits.

Some few like Bill Gates donate to charity , others leave all their wealth to pets. Thats life!!

Not all rich people spend like there's no tomorrow. I read a story in the newspaper years ago (when I was in the military) about an old man who was a millionaire but lived in a slum housing rooming house and ate beans and vegetables from the cans. He was found dead in his room after neighbors complained about the smell of rotting flesh coming from his room. A background check revealed that he had millions in investments, but never spent a dime of it. Why he chose to live that way wasn't known. The reasoning behind his choices went with him when he died.

Of course, that doesn't mean that some wealthy people don't spend big. As you've observed, some certainly do. But they've earned it (or inherited it) and they have the right to spend it, and in seemingly recklessly ways if they wish to do so. And that's great for the economy. The big bucks they spend become someone else's profit and income, and they pay income taxes on it, and the country benefits from the activity.

What I think may be happening here is that you might be unintentionally wishing you could impose on other people (the rich) what you believe would be wiser spending habits. You may come from a family of modest income and look on wealthy people's spending habits with disdain because you believe they squander money recklessly when some of that money could be put to better use such as possibly helping the poor or very poor. Those are noble thoughts, but as others have pointed out, it isn't your money, so that's easy for you to say because it isn't going to cost you anything. Rather than tending to look like someone who is pointing fingers at the rich, you might want to devote your time learning how to make millions, and then setting an example for other rich people by doing what you curretly claim you would do if you were rich. That would be very noble, and it would certainly speak volumes of how nice a person you are. Right now though, it's all pretty much just talk. Many of your readers probably doubt that you'd actually deliver on your claims. So, my advice, now that you've made your claims, is to go for it. Become rich and set a good spending example for all those other rich people.

Another thought you might want to mull around is that people of lesser fiancial status than you or your family might think that buying a million dollar house and a Tahoe is pretty excessive. So, to them, you might sound like someone with a big spender mentality yourself. It's all relative.

I'm retired, and although not a millionnaire, I don't have any financial worries. In spite of that, I drive a Toyota Corolla and live in a one-bedroom rented apartment. I do so because I see the gas consumption and maintenance costs of larger vehicles as unnecessarily more expensive. I also see the maintenance costs of home ownership as unnecessarily expensive. But altough I choose to drive a smaller more efficient car, and I sold my home to move into a modest apartment, I don't object to others choosing to drive a Tahoe or living in a home of their own. If that pleases them, I'm happy for them. And I know it's all good for the country's economy.

Another thing that would be great for this country (and possibly others) is for you to become a multi-millionnaire and to start showing that generous side you claim to have. Go for it. Everyone out there will appreciate you and the example your will set for others.
