Answer this for me?

don't get me wrong, I love the USA but this is my question. Why is it that we are the most powerful nation in the world and the wealthiest but we send money to other countries for aids research, help the homeless, help the starving and the poor, but we have the same thing here. People (children) starving to death daily, Childern dieing because there families cant afford health insurance. Families homeless because the can't afford a home. Don't we the USA print our own money then why the hell is this happening. Also why does the government give welfare to people who don't want to work and those who can't work (illness\disability) can't get assistance.

Pride goeth before a fall

I get your drift. Yet and still, we are the most fortunate country on the earth. Try to imagine living anywhere else. By the way, alot of those "starving" people you mention are walking around with an overweight problem.

we've had a republican dominated goverment for way too long.
it's time for checks and balances

Let me set you off straight.

The America you are being led to believe in has changed.

We now live in a global economy and barriers are really not there.

All the problems you eluded to are the result of the working class getting the shaft over the years.

It now pays to sit at home and collect checks, rather than take a job that pays hardly enough to get by on.

This new America can't go on forever. Something eventually will have to give.

All the aid being given out to other countries is being taken from the national debt. It's now up to 8 and a half trillion dollars.

What happens when the well runs dry?

Eventually, all that will remain in America is a big national debt and a bunch of Chinese made American flags.

You are wrong on many points. We do not have children dying because they can't afford health insurance. No hospital can turn them away. People are starving or homeless because they chose to be. No family is homeless because they can't afford a home, they can't keep a home because they are misfits. The US does not print money without deceasing its value. They government gives welfare to people that don't work because of liberals.

Cause those weput in power have chossen to do any thing for there selves and there pride before there people ..

In all honesty, the government cares nothing about us. They just want us to think they do. To them we're nothing more than useless eaters. They want to wipe out as many of us as they can in world war 3, and those who survive, pound into submission in a New World Order police state. Scary, but what can we do?

show proof of children dying of hunger in the USA????...children who need medical help get without insurance...i see it everyday at the hosp.....as far as your welfare question....yes there are folks who are able-bodied career-welfare recipients who are too lazy to work....those who can't ...get assistance....

yeah, we arm 'n' uniform Iraqi soldiers, yet there's real mess in New Orleans...

It's like Leonard said America has changed. It seems as if America is more concerned with what other countries say and think and do than us. Dirty politics, greed, favortism, stupidity, and lack of courage in our leaders has a great deal to do with the way things are. I am not saying not to help others but our government does need to do more for America. I am for welfare but for those who can't work and care for themselves, not for whores and such and the lazy and the good for nothing people. We need better and stifer policies for home and abroad.

The money that goes to aiding impoverish nations and disease afflicted countries comes from rich individuals and big corporation who get a equivalent tax cuts for their donations. Instead of paying taxes to the government they would rather donate money and appear philanthropic in the process.
For people who continue to languish in poverty in your blessed country, it may be because they chose to do so to perpetuate reliance on government welfare benefits for themselves and their families. They are just lazy to work for what they eat. It's good politics to give people welfare but it doesn't teach the higher principle of self reliance. This is the scourge of developed societies.

You make some pretty strong points.

I have been in two third world countries, so I am not an expert by any stretch - but I can tell you this: The poorest of the poor in this country can't hold a candle to some of the deprivation and abhorrent living conditions I have seen.

That being said, I think the United States does a pretty good job in its efforts to help the poor and disabled. I also think that welfare fraud is a much larger concern than is generally reported. These dirt bags are litterally stealing from the people who need it most - they "work" the system for all it's worth, and often leave the people who need it most wading through red tape.

The fact that the government would keep doling out the assistance rather than possibly cutting someone off by mistake speaks volumes for their sincere effort to help those who need it most.

There are countless programs in the system to prevent the scenerios you presented in your question from taking place in this country. For instance -

No child should die or even go untreated because the family can't afford health insurance. Hospitals are required to provide emergency care regardless of the patient's ability to pay. For less serious situations, there are free clinics for the people who can't afford a visit to their own doctor.

As far as "starving to death" - there is the WIC Program, ADC benefits, food stamps, food banks and homeless shelters w/ soup kitchens.

And for housing, there is Section 8 for people who couldn't otherwise afford a rent, homeless shelters, and many private groups like Habitat for Humanity, all trying to end homelessness. But the reality is that a good portion of the homeless are people with mental disabilities, serious drug or alcohol problems or people who simply don't take advantage, for some reason or another, of the help that is available.

Can we do better? Probably. We can support bills to increase the minimum wage, for instance, and get behide the recent drives to force employers to pay a "living wage". Neither of these things is unreasonable, but both get strong opposition from the rich and greedy. Check out the discrepency between an executive vs. a production worker - it's absolutely shameful!
And both of these proposals help people who WANT to work - and, in my opinion, that's far more beneficial than just sending them a monthly welfare check.

In closing - you can be proud of America's efforts to help the needy. Despite some of its shortcomings, it's still, without any doubt, the greatest country in the world.

We are in a free market society. There will always be haves and have nots. This question is directed to liberals, which I am not. The liberals have ruined our major cities. Welfare laws have prohibited marriage when a woman receives welfare. Then you have generation after generation of welfare babies. That is why 70% of black babies are born out of wedlock. You look at this situation emotionally.

Also, a lot of people make bad choices with their money. I used to do in-home sales and every home in the poor neighborhoods had a big screen tv. Poor people have poor habits.

The U.S. government is doing these things, deliberately, in order to cause frustration so that American citizens will riot. Then, martial law will be instituted so that the NEXT agenda will be implemented so that the super rich will have world control!...
