Why do Scientists cont. to look at Africa as a source for AIDS without hard proof?

Aids didint start is Africa ..well it may have but there is no proof. Sombody just said , 'hey a deadly disease lets look at Africa. There are many scientists that disproved the African origin, but its so easy to do and people want to believe it. Historically, animal to human diseases have coem from people living/sleeping with domesticated animals, not Monkeys. ... but of course, igonrant pple think Africans live with Monkeys ... Even if it went to Haiti from Africa, It dosent mean that Aids started there. Most of those comments abuot the African origins are coming from the reporters not from the research. Before, they blamed the gay community, but now that its not PC to gay-bash, they needed to pin it on Africans...Western Sceintists have spent so much trying to pinit on Africa b/c thats whetre they think all deadly disease orginiates even when there collegues disporve them. I expect Scientists to start with a blank sheet and look at all possibilites!

It seems like the source of anything bad, they try to find the origin in Africa. Even the source of evil itself!! But don't call it racism-ooh noooo! Not all white ppl-tho., but mainstream media is notorious for this.

I do not know if AIDS started in Africa...and I don't care even if it did.

The reason I have heard the believe it did though was the MUCH higher rates of the disease there then other places in the world and also because they had some type of disease in a monkey or other animal that lives in Africa.

It is not meant as a "slam" to Africa and anyone taking it like that really needs to relax, have a smoke, and get with the real world because if THIS is what pisses someone off... then he/she will feed themself a bullet b4 long.

Because the green monkey has a very closely related strain of immune virus, Simian Immune Virus (SIV), it is not illogical to assume it could have jumped species after mutation.

If you had bothered to read the research, you would realize that it's thought to have been transmitted while a monkey was being butchered for bush-meat. Using monkeys for food is a practice that continues to this day in some parts of Africa.

I don't see this as a negative reflection on anyone in Africa, anymore than saying Ebola originated there.

While Gay males and drug users still tend be the greatest avenue of transmission in the west, it's heterosexual behavior in Africa. With the conquest and imperial behavior of western powers in the late 19th and early 20th century it brought about the breakdown of the traditional tribal structures and social rules. This led to a much higher degree of sexual behavior that was conducive to transmission of the virus. Specifically the houses of prostitution that were set up along the trucking routes which became a primary point of transmission for HIV there.

That's quite the straw man argument you've created there. To suggest that all scientists have concluded that AIDS did originate in Africa is just plain stupid. Obviously any dedicated scientist would acknowledge that, like many other things in the world and the universe, they don't yet actually know where or how AIDS originated. Please don't try to make science and scientists look like completely idiots by expressing your overgeneralization through access to internet linked terminals...thanks.

Personally, I don't think this was a natural occurance. Even it did start in Africa, I don't think anyone was doing anything that they haven't been doing for thousands of years so I'm not sure why or how a new disease that no one had seen before would suddenly emerge to such a devastating effect in the late 20th century. A handful of cases, sure, but a pandemic?The new research puts the inception of the disease in Haiti in the early 60's or late 50's. Not long after experiments were being conducted in Tuskeegee for a disease that was already well known to us, the symptoms of which were already documented and with which there were plenty of people already infected on whom any sort of experiments pertaining to finding a cure could have been conducted. Now the pharm industry is making how much money from this single ailment globally? They don't talk about it but India and Russia are not far behind Africa in terms of rates of new infections.

well aids is a evil man-made in a lab,by some evil scientist, disease.the reason scientist say it started there is because thats where-(among many other countries and cities) the original evil doers who caused it injected it into the people.for one reason of dying down the population.
