Means of diagnostics of AIDs?

Yes, I'm doing a report on AIDs for school, and no im NOT lazy. I just am working alone here, and cant really understand the internet too much on this one area. Ive been asked to research the diagnostics of AIDs. But everysite i go to doesnt have what im looking for, or its all scientific. I dont understand it too much. Can you help me out? Doe anybody know the means of diagnostics for AIDs?? thank you!

When AIDS first appeared, it was diagnosed mainly by the symptoms the patient complained of. The doctor would eliminate other diseases that might cause the same symptoms and by the process of elimination, arrive at AIDS.

Today we have more sophisticated testing methods.

1. HIV Antibody Test: There are specific tests that can detect the body's antibodies to the HIV virus. Some are screening only, but these must be confirmed by a second test called a Western Blot.

3: HIV Viral Load count: The number of HIV virus particles detectable in the blood.

PS: I don't think your lazy, sometimes folks just need a little help to steer them in the right direction. Once you get started on these websites, keep in mind the information you collect and build on what you know and learn. Stick to reliable websites like the WHO, CDC, NIH, etc.
