I have to do a research paper about hiv and aids?

i have to do the 3 topics i;m researching for that i dont get that part and the purpose of my paper is to :{thesis statement }i dont noe that iether can plz someone help me ???

When writing a paper, start with the thesis statement. It's a general observation or conclusion you have formed based on the research you've done. I don't understand what you mean by "I have to do the three topics". Use parentheses ( ) instead of brackets { }. You need to decide what it is about HIV and AIDS you wish to present. Total number of those currently infected and total deaths so far? Would you want to include an explanation of the virus and how it operates? What about clinical research and treatment options available now? It would be nice to mention treatments still in the research stage.

The opening statement could be something like "2,500 people around the world will die today from AIDS-related complications." Of course, your figures must be as accurate as possible. Don't use mine...I made this up. Quote your sources. "According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 1 out 100 people in the United States, etc."

The first topic must support this statement. Offer statistics from as many countries as you can. Discuss the actual HIV and AIDS population that exists today. How is it distributed? Racially, economically, by gender and age. How many are in which countries? How many die each day (or week, or month) in each country. The total number of deaths is the figure you use in your thesis statement. Include graph charts. Which well-known people have died from AIDS or are HIV infected? The virus knows no social or economic boundaries.

The next topic might discuss the virus itself. The theories about the origin of the virus. How it invades body cells and replicates. It's a retrovirus. Explain briefly what this is. How does it suppress the immune system and create oppotunities for secondary infections? Why can't the body fight it off? How did it make the jump to the United States? How did it go from the gay community to the general population? What age group is most at risk? What are risky behaviors that help spread the virus? If you can find a photo of an HIV, include it. At what point the virus becomes detectable.

It follows that you should mention testing and what tests are used, when HIV infection becomes full-blown AIDS and AIDS complications. If you want to discuss financial, social and emotional loss, do so. Give your paper a human touch.

Now cover current treatment options and the medications used. There are several classes of meds used. Run a search for "HIV meds". Some prevent replication and some prevent the virus from entering cells, for example. Mention that they are often combined in an HIV "cocktail". Discuss alternative methods used. The benefits of early and aggressive treatment. You could even give a passing mention of Merck Pharmaceutical's experimental HIV vaccine candidate, V520, also known as MRKAd5, which originally seemed so promising but was halted during clinical trials.

Summarize your paper. Recap what you've written. Your closing statement should reflect the summary and make an impact. An example might be "Although we seem to be 20 years and 2,500 deaths away from a cure or even an effective vaccine, there's still hope. We must never give up hope".

So, you've got your opening statement. It should grab the reader's attention. The supportive statements that follow. The body of your paper which will cover various relevant topics. Then the summary and closing statement, which should also be memorable. Technically, you could repeat your thesis statement but this is more effective when delivering a speech. And don't forget your bibliography. This lists your sources of information. You could include footnotes and link them to your bibliography. If you don't know how to put this together, run a search for it or ask your teacher. And triple check your grammer and spelling!!! i;m, dont, noe, iether and plz just aren't going to cut it.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

If you want to start from the beginning, the spread of AIDS after it was hidden from the general population when first detected, leading it to spread massively, quickly, then grow out of control prior to other countries (including the US) ever being notified of the finding of the disease, you may want to rent the movie "And The Band Played On". The movie is moreso a documentary and it scares me to know what really goes on when a disease is originally detected, what could have been done to stop the spread, and how many failed systems of communication we have around the world. It's extremely informative, also heartbreaking and a rude awakening for those of us that don't quite understand how a disease can go undetected (allegedly) for so long prior to finding out that we have an epedemic on our hands.

Good luck on your assignment, you may want to use scholargoogle instead of google for your research as it directs you to the medical journals and eliminates the findings that pop up that have no bearing on your search. Hopefully you can share your story of getting a top grade on this assignment too!
