POVERTY: rich countries encouraging it?

"The richest countries in the world (for example, the US) do little to aid developing nations because this action would result in financial windfall."

this is a topic I'm currently researching for a year 11 essay. Given the fact that the divide between the richest and poorest nations have risen from 1:30 to 1:74 in the last 38 years, do you agree with this statement and why?

yes: you know the colonial era, first these so called civilized people used the resources and man power of their colonies to rise like they did with afrcans in america, when they made the US super power instead of rewarding them , they were mad slaves and sold and purchased like animals.the eurpean aggressors first destroyed the economy and resources by either taking them to their lands or vanishing them.
then when they were blood tired in the ww2 they left these nations in panic and unstability. then they gathered for the economica exploitation and join hands in the name of g8 and so on..despite rival and deep differences they are still suckimg the blood of these poors. they are not writing off the loans but taking heavy interests even they can it easily.
if they donate only 5 percent of their GDP , then all the africa can be feed, all the african health needs can be fulfilled, and all the education can provided,
all the africa can be made agriculturally self reliant

This is bitter truth that the poorest countries are poor because of themselves and not because of the Richest countries.

I myself also belong to a poor country to understand the above statement.

In a class of 30 students some fails and some pass the exams with distinction and some above the distinction.

Now the failure of some student is not due to distinction of the brilliant student.

African countries are poor because of themselves not because Switzerland or Singapore or any other rich countries.

I think you are incorrect in you assumption that "poor" nations have not been doing well. Rich nations have gotten richer and their are some poor countries that have stagnated but there are many countries countries that were at or near the bottom that have economies that are growing at remarkable rates, for example China and India.
