Ideas for a research paper?

I need a local, national, or global problem and make a proposal on how to fix it. My teacher told us not to pick: abortion, teen pregnancy, illegal immigration, AIDS, global warming, gay marriage, or legalizing marijuana, because they are so over done. The paper needs to be four pages long.

I've got a two in one (it's kind of satirical, but it could work, depending on how you skew it)

electricity and obesity in the states

Ok, so, there's this problem with people being overweight, right? It's supposedly becoming more and more prevalent. And then there's this energy thing: there's not enough of it. How do we create more?

Well, I drove by a 24 hour fitness the other day, you know, one of the ones that has a wall of windows so that you can see people exercising and feel completely guilty of never making it to the gym. One of those. Then it hits me. If all those treadmills and stationary bikes were connected to some sort of turbine system, we could be making energy galore! Do you know how many times those things spin? There are always people on them...ALL day!

Now you may be thinking, what about obesity? Well, what do we do with all government duties that nobody actually wants to do? (Let's think) We have jury duty and the draft, don't we? what about mandatory cycling/walking/running to contribute to our wealth of energy? (This would FORCE people to exercise and give us energy!) Obviously, energy would have to be government regulated to make this possible, but it could work!

Anywho...just and idea...thought I'd throw it out there.

(Think big! What is schools have these turbines? Hundreds of kids running the infamous mile all across the country!)

Think about what is happening right now. You could do a paper on the economy, the car industry, or even Iraq war. You could write about army benefits for families or after discharge. You could come closer to home and write about jobs in your area, ideas to create more jobs (if could be something as simple as a new business or factory) or even raising minimum wages and the benefits and loses.

Wow! She sure has put a lot of limitations on you, but here a few I thought of:
The recent job market; there are no jobs! You could do the paper concentrating on a specific job type: teaching, construction, health care, whatever.
You could do something about the health of Americans these days
Or around here we have had a lot of restaurants go under because of low health inspection scores, you could do something on that.

Homeless in America. Most are mentally ill, but cannot get soc. sec. due to no permanent address, and some do not know they are ill. Screen them all, and the ones that accept treatment, will get help

Why are teens tried as adults?

The war in Iraq.
Human cloning.
Drugs in school.
Homicides. Suicide attempts in teens.
Depression (young peopl).
Religious disputes.
Racism (i know, commun, but still)

Sorry about the depressing subjects, but yeah, you'd find a lot about them, definitly enough to write 4 pages.
