Learning about sex on the internet good enough? |
Ok well i posted a question yesterday about how it should be by choice when to have sex which thank you people for the answers =). I also talked about how i try to talk to my mom about the talk but she never tells me. So for almost about a year I've been researching and learning mainly about birth control & STD'S/HIV &AIDS (just to know before i ever do it which I'm not going to now). Also a little about people that have their virginity. So long as the websites you've been visiting are proper, I think learning about sex on the internet, before you actually have sex yourself, is a very good thing. If you honestly cannot talk to your mom, and you researched it, then yes; you are just fine. Your mother does not hold more knowledge than the "brain" or a computer. It's good that this topic sparks an interest. Just keep doing it. You will be fine, though you should try to achieve a much more "open" relationship with your mother. : ) yeah, i think it definitely can be a valuable tool. i learned everything from www.scarleteen.com. you might have already gone there, but it's really, really informative. You can never know enough. And the most important thing to know is that waiting is the best thing you can do for yourself It depends on your sources. I don't know what those websites look like but I wouldn't recommend you going on religious or conservative websites that give fake stats and data about birth control. It's hard to know what to trust but usually if there is a doctor or an organization that promotes safe sex and adequate sex education backing the website you'll be fine. Just make sure they cite sources when they give you data. Things like "according to the world's health organization" or "the association of American medical colleges" says... those kinds of things mean reliable and scientific. The internet is good with contraception methods, they tell you what they are, where to get them and how to use them properly. Those pages you're looking at might be a good solid start to begin with but latter your questions will get more complex. I think the best way to go is a health specialist when the internet has served its purpose. Nurses are the best, usually they are on your side because they have seen plenty of teens with unplanned pregnancies and STD's so they will give you honest and correct answers. But yeah, the internet is a good place to start. |
