If there was a time for 'other life forms' from outer-space to launch attacks on planet earth...?

...on a mass scale, then surely NOW would be the IDEAL time to hit us - yes ?

1. the global economy has never looked worse...complete meltdown, everyday another small-smallmed buisiness shuts down somewhere, some place on earth. RECESSION is crippling the human race.

2. With the billions of $$$ spent on releif efforts and global aid to help victims of earthquakes, tsunamis, famines etc etc - not nearly enough has been spent on the design and implementation of some form of 'defence capability' , and no such 'mechanism' is in place by the looks of things to 'take on' a threat from outside of our solar system.

3. In short - if we ARE attacked, we'll be out of our depth with the technology we have at the moment - they'll roll over us in a week or less. There is nobody in military research wings across the globe who will be taken seriously if they mention devising a counter-attack system against an inter-galactic life form who may or may not have harnessed the power of ion cannons.

4. as a race, we are still in the infancy stages of 'evolotion' in terms of 'colelctiveness' , compared to our guests from outer space who may actualy come in numbers as 2 or maybe 3,4,5 groups (hailing from their own planets, each with their own technologies ready to take us down like piss-ants that we are).

5. having already mentioned that we are 'piss-ants' before our superior alien counterparts who would totaly and utterly own us with their uber superior and deadly technology and weaponry, the mere fact that we watch rubbish like 'X-factor, pop idol, american idol, dancing on ice and other gay orientated metrosexualised crap on t.v - is reason enough to be attacked and obliterated. We are pathetic in general.

6. we have barely started colonising our moon, never mind other planets - hence we are sitting ducks WAITING to be annexed as a resource platform for other alien races who may be at a disadvantage against their foes, earth may be a space post for them.

So there u have it - we're in for a rude-awakening SHOULD we be attacked TOMORROW morning , i assure you boys and girls that we are grossly un-prepared for a large scale attack. Remember how we trusted out banks with our money , hahaha and looked what happened. The recession owned us. Now its time for the Aliens to have some fun by totaly kicking our behinds ?

Why do we always assume that we have so far to go compared to alien races? For all we know, we're the most advanced race out there.

If they have the technology to get here and the intent to do so, there would be no stopping them. Indeed, you would likely never see it coming. One minute we'd find ourselves all quite dead.

And your question is....?

We have always been pretty helpless against that, but I just wonder, not if there is life elsewhere, but if there is life that much more advanced than us. Think about it, it has taken life on this planet this long to get to this point. That could mean that there is no more advanced life out there. Just a thought. Hope it means you can sleep well tonight, friend!

We are no more defenceless against attack from space now than we have ever been ... we've always been utterly defenceless from an attack from space, and will likely be for centuries to come. Any alien species that has mastered space travel could just accelerate rocks toward Earth and pound us into slavery or extinction, and there would be zip would could do about it. They could even accelerate an asteroid to a modest relativistic velocity and completely destroy Earth, we would have essentially zero warning. Basic physics: I=1/2v2

The fact that we are here discussing this means that if there are aliens with such capabilities, they are either benign or indifferent. Nothing to worry about in any case.

By the way, only a small handful of human cultures have ever been infected with the desire to conquer and colonize their neighbours. It's a rather abnormal development, only benefits the rich, and has always ended badly. And an interstellar empire makes even less sense, a species that has mastered star travel is going to have incredible resources. The mineral resources and even water resources of the solar system are just floating around for the taking in quantities far vaster than can be harvested from Earth. Even if aliens wanted human slaves, it would be far easier to capture a few of us and clone people as slaves from birth rather than mess around with trying to tame "wild" humans.

In fact, since the asteroid belt isn't being harvested by aliens, it's a pretty safe bet that they don't exist or have no interest in our unremarkable little solar system.

It's the people in Washington we should worry about, not hypothetical aliens.

if the US has been making/testing super sonic jets called 'Aurora' , bet your *** they'll use them.

I also think all the highly classified top secret jets other countries have been building/built will come to light, only the most advanced technology under wraps wuold be unleashed and put to good use here.

If anybody would fight such an enemy it wouldn't be the middle east and their 'superior religion' I assure you. A fight, or a resistence of a significant form will most likely come from the 'infidels' (non muslims on earth) ironically. The Western powers that are, with other military mights across the globe would HAVE to united and use everything and anything at their arsenal.

I fear we'd be beaten into submission eventually though.

If there was life on other planets there is a very small chance that it has evloved high than we have, and the closest planet that may have life is almost 25000 lightyears away so it will take them a while to get here. in short your wierd but dont worry about alien attacks, there are better things to worry about.
