Why does the USA give so much aid to Israel, yet israel does not return any of the interest or repay loans?

How can the usa tax dollars be shelled out to Israel billions annually, along with food clothing goods military weapons research and development, while not receiving any of the money they owe us?
When banks loan out money and you don't repay they cut you off right?
How is it that we are not cutting Israel off?

I had to laugh at ptyiur's answer-clearly someone who has never been outside the USA. All European nations spend a bloody fortune on defence, and most of them would be only too happy to see the USA depart their bases. Israel's aid comes in the form of soft loans, so they will buy as much US military hardware as possible at reduced rates. After all, those nasty stone throwing Palestinians need to be attacked with Apaches don't they?

Aid, dude. We're helping Israel. The reason it needs money is because it's deep in the ****, in devastating wars. If they had money to return they wouldn't need aid in the first place.

So it's like a monetary gift, in their time of need. They don't owe us any of it.

Simply put, Israel is the only true DEMOCRACY in the Middle East that is willing to accept help from the US. Think of them as our kid walking the dog because he wants to, but we give him the leash.

Most, if not all, of the big banks in America are run by Jewish people and since most Jewish people in the world consider Israel as there home, they send lots of money to Israel.

Israel has to put a huge amount of its aid back into the US economy and we get first shot at their superior technology. The USA would suffer if we stopped our relationship with Israel.
