sure they have their heart in the right place

but it is naive to just look at poverty and not study or research

the institutions that let it happen

to understand poverty you really need to understand the

money system, eg debt-based money, most loans to third world countries are created out of thin air

giving aid to them is like trying to desalinate a river bit by bit, whilst a huge truck is loading tonnes of salt into it

you need to attack the root of it

and the UN itself has not been some God when it comes to human rights

I think poverty has been researched till its been thoroughly mashed.
The root of it changes from country to country, in a surprising amount of places its simply lousy, corrupt government.
They take the money, the natural resources and use it to keep the people half starved and poor while they live very comfortable lives.
That is hard to change unless we want to go in an kill a whole bunch of dictators. Then take responsibility for installing and maintaining an at least semi-honest government.
While the former leaders plot against you.
Its not that the UN is some God, its just that no one else wants to even try to help, it is a losing proposition, with no upside until the country itself has a revolution with a heroic character for a leader.
And those are pretty rare.

But many organizations are. Feed the Children being at the top of the list. The group should be giving out birth control instead of food. The problem with most of these nations are their attitudes and religions. If they'd stop having 15 kids, they wouldn't be starving.
