Was their aids in the 1980's?-2001 ?


like i have to do a project in histroy and i have to choose a topic that i want to do an it had to be from 1980-2001 and i choose aids the things is i need to know everything about it and like how it strated i mean i know but i need alot1 more info did aids happen in the late 1980's!!??? idk but like i need to do research like i need help with article i look in the web but i ddnt need to know where it is i just need to know the history of AIDS!!! help! comments, where to go find, (help! anything!!) lol

Yes. The 1980s was the first era in which there was widespread deaths and then awareness of the disease. During the 1980s AIDS and safe sex were discussed far more than what they are today. Many people also acquired AIDS from blood transfusions, thus causing the need for blood to be screened for the first time. In Australia in the late 1980s a commercial used to air on TV with the grimm reaper advising the public to be aware that AIDS could strike anyone and to take proper precautions. Compared to back then, AIDS is rarely discussed at all today. Thanks to the advances in medicine, HIV is not seen as an automatic death sentence as it was back then.
