Not ovulating, lost weight, low basil temp: thyroid problem?

I started my period at 12 and had regular cycles until I was 15. I then had amnnorrhia that lasted 6 months. Saw my mom's gyno and he gave me a band-aid (birth control). Was on that for four years, inconsistantly. Every time I took myself off birth control (bc), my cycles were 2.5 months long. When I stopped bc for good, I was trying to get pregnant. The first cycle after bc was textbook: my cervical fluid showed I ovulated and my period came at 28 days. After that I had 5 cycles in the next year. My basil temperatures showed that I wasn't ovulating. I have very low basil temperatures (95.5-96.5). I suddenly lost 20 lbs three years ago and have not been able to gain it back (current weight: 100 lbs...I want that 20 back!!!!). I have very long anovulatory cycles (65-75+ days long). My symptoms conflict between hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, and I'm tired of doctors brushing me off. This has been an issue for 7 years and no one is taking me seriously! What's wrong!?

This is the second time I've asked this question, and also the second time I've received that answer from Debi...I am NOT looking to lose weight. I want to GAIN weight, read the question. And quit spamming!

if you are losing without any reason then check your thyroid up, it may be hyperthyroidism.

I know that feeling (stressed out). This sounds complicated and I can only give you my thoughts and Ideas as a 3rd year med student. Right now don't worry about your basil temp. You need a few tests and I need to know the results to be able to guide you better. The tests are TSH, free T4, TPO, Anti-Thyroglobulin, FSH, LH, prolactin, estrogen, progesterone and for completeness CBC, chem, LFT, BUN, creatinine, sed rate, and throw in ANA, P-anca, RF, and lime titer if you live in a wooded area. It would sound like an ovarian ultrasound is warranted. With these results I can help you better. your primary can order all of these tests so right now do not go to a specialist or they will blow you off.

If you have ins they will cover it all as long as it is coded properly. If you do not then skip the ANA, p-anca, RF. I am just theorizing right now so I do not want to tell you my thoughts so I do not panic you. It can be many things so with out this info it is impossible to tell.
