Angina and exercise?

What type of activity would be appropriate for an individual with angina and recent knee surgery to help control angina symptoms and aid in wieght loss?

If you can't do much walking because of a bad knee, go swimming until you're able to walk. Walking, which could include hiking and running, is really the best all around exercise for weight control and cardiovascular health. As an alternative, try stationary bicycling, or treadmills, which give you more control over the level of exercise and duration.

If you already have angina, you have to be pretty dedicated to exercise and weight loss if you want to avoid surgery or stents.

Something light; you don't want to stress out your heart. Maybe exercises with a medicine ball or yoga. However, you should always consult your doctor before starting any exercise program; they'll advise you if it's safe for you or not.

Low impact exercise in view of the angina and knee surgery. Ask your cardiologist and physical therapist about pool exercises, walking or stretching done from a chair.

I would swim. If you have a pool around , that would be the best ! Easy on your knee and wonderful for your heart.
Good luck !!

walking every day,go a little futher each day.take anginine spray before each exercise,if any chest pain stop immediately

water aerobics, but check with you doctor----should anyway if he/she doesnt know about the chest pain.
