If you have sex during your period you can. But there will be a bit more friction. You will also be able to smell it. Its not that bad of a smell but its there. There will also be a big mess, so lay down a towel because the bed will get very messy. Your bf will also get a fair bit of period on him (he might get grossed out but he asked for it)

As for symptoms. it depends on the STD. Basically anything out of the ordinary. Redness, rash, bumps, sores, burning, discharge, pain. There are no noticeable symptoms of AIDS in the early stage. well, it's not the best idea to have sex when you've got your period, simply because you have an increased chance of contracting an STD, also, your vagina is at it's most sensitive during that time of the month, so it might not be very enjoyable. However, there's no rule to say that you can't do it, just make sure to use a condom (as always), and make sure that you are maintaining basic hygene before you and your boyfriend have sex.
