There are not necessarily stages of AIDS. The virus attacks each individual in different ways. Each person's immune system responds differently. You can have an AIDS diagnosis and be asymtomatic or symptomatic. The list of symptoms is long (thrush, pneumonia, Cytomeglavirus (CMV), various cancers (lymphoma), to name a few. There are so many new treatments now that it is beneficial to start treatment early. It is becoming more of a chronic disease than acute. |
