Come on people... lets learn something shall we? AIDS is a condition... it is a not a disease. HIV is a disease. AIDS is the condition that you get once you have been infected with HIV for a long time. HIV attacks the immune system and destroys the cells that protect our body from infections. Once the immune system has been damaged to the point of being almost gone, this is when a person has AIDS (Aquired Immune Deficiancy Syndrome). In a person suffereing from AIDS, opportunistic infections start to infect the body. These infections are diseases which normally do not affect a healthy person, but thrive in an AIDS patient because they have very little immune system protecting them. AIDS is Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. It is when HIV has progressed enough and your immune system is almost completely destroyed. |
