How to handle mental effects of depo-provera?

I got injected with a three month supply of birthcontrol and that night I had extreme panic attacks and psychotic symptoms. After that first day I was fine. I want to stick with the Depo-provera, but dont want to suffer that first day. Any advice??
Also would taking xanax, or a sleeping aid prevent potential recurrence of these symptoms?

I have known hundreds of people that have taken Depo and I take it myself... I have never ever heard of that happening. In fact...... I just dont know why it would.

Actually mental changes are fairly common for women taking any kind of hormonal birth control. It may be too strong for you, but since it is a shot there is nothing you can do. You just have to wait for the three months too pass and make sure you never get it again. Next time try a low dose birth control pill, although some of those can also cause mental ailments. You just have to find what works with your body.

Same thing happend to me,....get off the depo, you'll just get worse, your bodys rejecting it, try the i.u.d, or something with low hormones. trust me, if you dont you'll probbly endup in the hospital.
