Do i have a staph infection?

i dont have no symptoms or pain, but i have this thing on my necc,its like a big pimple with a lil puss,but it has a rash around it now, which may be from a band aid ive had on it,again no symptoms or pain,and it looks like a pimple,jus big,.......is it a pimple or a staph infection, i think its a pimple but i could be wrong....

ive had it for about 3 days

well if it doesnt itch or get bigger than i think your in the clear BUT dont be tryin to pop it because it could turn in to staph!!! thats what happen to me!!! but if it itches, gets bigger, and starts leaking puss then im sorry to say thats what you got. and if thats the case you need to seek help asap because you DO NOT want it to get in to your blood stream.

It's definitely folliculitis or cellulitis of some kind...

Whether it's being irritated by p.acne bacteria, staph, strep, or whatever is basically irrelevant...

This is because a culture would need to be taken and I doubt that is going to happen...

You didn't mention how long you've had it... I'd say if it persists for another few days or if it spreads to other follicles then go see a doctor immediately

What you can do for now is make sure to keep it uncovered and go to the store and get some staphoseptic ointment and if you have any other open wounds that occur on your body then rub that stuff into it to prevent the staph/whatever it is from spreading to it

maybe an ingrown hair that can cause the pimple
BUT that can become infected
if there are red streaks steming from the center plus a LOT of swelling i would see a dr. as you will need some antibiotics & maybe have the dr. drain it if you can't by applying hot compresses onto it & also calamine lotion is good to help dry them up but if it is bad it may form a head & need to be popped, or lanced at the dr.

It is probally nothing but if it looks as if it is getting infected you should get it looked at, an infection can get serious.

It could be a staph infection but I'm guessing not....You can try to soak it with a warm washcloth twice a day and see if it gets better.

it could be a boil. which is an infected hair follicle normally found on the neck
