Any other ways of stopping my moms runs from Lukaemia treatment, loperamide doesnt work?

My mom is taking tablets to treat lukaemia but they are giving her really bad runs every morning now, she is taking loperamide to stop it but its not working well enough she is normally ok in the day time,but at 78 and really thin this is not good and the doctors dont seem to know or offer any other solutions/alternatives, any ideas possibly from anyone who may be suffering the same symptoms maybe from aids treatment etc, i am worried how long she can go on like this

First, its a common side effect of the treatment. Honestly, nothing is going to make it stop until her digestive tracts heals from this round of treatment. The chemo is causing cells to die in the digestive tract and can be causes sores or ulcers as well.

Her doctor must be made aware of this if they are not. Her stool should be tested to make sure she is not sick with an infection such as c diff or others.

She needs to stay hydrated, so make sure she drinks plenty of fluids. She should use a sitz bath or baby wipes instead of toilet paper, its easier on the skin.

Make sure if she starts feeling any amount of abnormal pain around the anus she alert her doc immediatly. All the bowel movents in combo with wiping can cause ulcers or sores around the anal opening, and that could be very serious.

Ask her doctor about fiber supplements, and possibly a different anti diareahal.

Sometimes eating peanut butter can help.

Unfortunately, there is no way of stopping it, especially since it is probably the anal sphincter that is already affected because of this. Since she does this only in the mornings, you may like to prepare the area for her morning ritual so as to help her out in her bowel movements as well as help you know how to manage it.

Ask them about Lomotil (low-mo-till).

She needs to get this problem under control. Can she see another doctor under your countries health system?
