Bumped by head on the window. Its bleeding now!!! Help Quick !!?

As i was getting out of the chair, i bumped my head against the bottem part of the window right above my head. Immediately, my instinct pulled my head back down.

Symptoms:
The 1 inch cut has been bleeding gradually for the past 10 minutes.

1st concern: IMPORTANT
Here is what i did about it: i want to know if it was safe and if i should worry about the cut.
1. I went ahead and washed my hair and the cut with just warm water.
2. dried it with tolipaper.
3. I tapped some tolipaper on the cut to get rid of the blood every minute or so.
4. I didn't have 1st aid alcohol, so i used hand sanitizer (62% alcohol - "ethyl alcohol" i believe)
5. i squeeze it onto some tolipaper and wiped on the cut.
6. Then i attempt to cover the cut with two band-aids, but it didn't work very well as you can imagine.



2st concern: how is it bleeding when there is no skin thats scraped (i observed this in the mirror).

Someone please help me!! I'm still worried about infection and other stuff.

No its not a cut. Doesn't even look like a scrape. Sorry for the confusion. As of right now, with out the band aids on, more blood has accumulated on the "cut" area.

I was hoping everyone would say "it's going to be fine".
But it turns out half of answers are suggesting me to go to the hospital......
I'm getting worried more than before.

Go to the hospital asap don't wait longer just go now!! you don't know if you have more damage done than what you think or can see. just go now don't take any chances.

Well I wouldn't recommend using TP for this wound, you could get peices stuck in there and that would cause an infection. Instead, use an old (clean) towel or dish rag that you can throw away later. Wash it with Bactine or Band-aid No Hurt antiseptic wash... this will kill all the germs and stimulate healing. Apply pressure with the rag, and if the bleeding doesn't stop within another 10 solid minutes of direct pressure you need to see a doctor.

It's best to not dab it, but to put pressure on it. Hold a wet cloth against it for about 10-20 minutes. If it is still bleeding after wards, it's deep and you should probably go to the hospital to get it stitched before it scars. They can also sanitize it better there..

i don't think u should do the whole hand sanitizer thing anymore it's for external use. u need take a thick pile of paper towels or a towel and put pressure on it. it should stop bleeding after about a minute or 2 and if not then u have a problem so call a doctor.

since your so worried and your probably not a dr. or nurse, try to go to the ER room. We have an express ER for minor things so see if your hospital have one too so you won't have to be there all night.

you should call a hospital and get advise from a professional. btw cuts can be difficult to see through hair.

my answer to the first thing would be no u should not worry to much go to a local doctor (mostly because of how its bleeding)

Head wounds always bleed a lot. Go to the doctor if you're concerned.

Don't panic you will be all right. Just grab a damp wash cloth with ice and apply pressure to where you injured your self. It will quit bleeding. You may have to apply pressure for at least 20 minutes. Sometimes injuries to the head--when you cut yourself can look a lot worse then they really are. Do Not take any aspirin because it will cause it to bleed more and take longer to clot. If you put alcohol on it, it will burn like a %$#&^. I would put neosporin on it after it quits bleeding to fight off infection. Do not wash your hair by doing that you are washing the clot away which in turn will cause it to bleed more. Have your parents look at it when they get home. What you did will not harm you. Because there is not a lot of meat on your head it does not take a whole lot to cause the skin to bleed.

so wait is there an actual cut or not cuz you said there is and then at the bottom you said its not scraped?

assuming its a cut its bleeding because once you break tissue you hit cappillaries which hold blood. alcohol will disinfect it well so theres a minimal risk of infection if u keep it clean, try neosporin.

if its not an actual cut you can bleed through your pores if you broke the blood vessels beneath the skin.

im sure youll be fine. but if u get dizzy or nausea go to a doctor.
