1. the HIV virus causes AIDS.
2. symptoms include getting REALLY sick from a cut, the common cold, infection (since AIDS affects the immune system, and it can't fight against bacteria/other viruses), lesions, ...

6. number 1, we studied this in class, and how viruses can elude all our defenses and evolve even though they're non-living is pretty fascinating. Also, AIDS is a new pandemic, and it's affecting the world i live in, so i want to be informed.
