I've just had breast biopsy and i'm concerned that lump was missed?

Results showed only adipose tissue (which i think is in breast anyway) and no other information. Will the test still show something if the lump has been missed. It wasn't performed with aid of ultrasound because the ultrasound couldn't find it. They think it's a rib but it's clearly a lump that doesnt move

Your question is a little confusing. They think it鈥檚 a rib? They should be able to see that on x-ray. Doing a biopsy that is not ultrasound guided is really taking a stab in the dark. If they missed it, then no it would not show cancer if it is. Adipose tissue is just fat. They can do a biopsy using MRI they just have to use a different type of needle. A non-moveable mass really needs further investigation. If your doctor does not have a plan to get a conclusive biopsy take your radiology reports to another doctor and get another opinion.

You need a second opinion. They can tell if it is a rib or not by doing a mammogram. There are other ways to biopsy a lump other than by use of ultrasound- don't let this slide by. They should be doing all sorts of tests until they have a difinative answer. I had a breast lump and they did a mammo, an ultrasound, a punch biopsy, then a needle guided biopsy before they finally figured out what it was. I wouldn't accept any answer that has "we think" in it. That's not good enough.

Go get a second opinion if you are concerned.
