I am 47 and thinking of going back to college. I earned 2 years of credits back in1979-81. Would they count?

I mean, would I have to start all over and do 4 yrs or could I get credit or test out of some classes? What about financial aid or something for my age?

You can't say they count or they don't. You have to talk to a counselor or go to this website to see if your credits are equivalent to the school you plan to go to. Financial aid is available but it has a lot to do with how much you make and if you have kids, if you got married, etc. to find out your financial aid go to fasfa.com Complete it now because a lot of schools have harsh deadlines for fasfa. And to see if your credits are worth anything go here transfer.org/cas/index.jsp log in as guest

I doubt that those classes wouldn't count, however, it would depend on if you were going to change your major or something. I would definitely get a transcript from that school and take it the college you plan on attending and discussing it with a advisor. Most people are eligible for finaicial aid, unless you make too much money. In that case, you're out of luck and will either have to take out loans or see if you can get some scholarships. Financial aid isn't age specific, its need - specific.

If you have an associates degree than they all count, however certain classes, mostly math and sciences, have an "expiration" date of sorts. But chances are you'll want a refresher course anyway. You would qualify for fiancial aid (pell grants) based on your financial need. see www.fafsa.ed.gov
Congrats and GOOD LUCK!!!
