How long will a feral/stray cat keep looking for her kittens??

I used a have a heart trap on the mother and had her spayed, vaccinated and aids and leukemia tested and released her. I also grabbed all 4 of her kittens and am fostering them. The mother is still after a week looking and meowing for them all over my yard. Its heartbreaking but I know I did the right thing. When will this process stop or will she ever stop????? Help......Brokenhearted

First and foremost, you absolutely did the right thing. Most of the time, when feral cats have kittens, you rarely ever see them till they are older and feral themselves. Then they quickly start reproducing and the viscous cycle explodes. You caught a break and were able to catch them, and that's awesome. Truth be told, only 1 or 2 feral kittens survive per litter in the wild to become adults, so you should congratulate yourself for saving the lives of all of them.
The Mother should stop looking very soon. I was also in your situation, but unfortunately was only able to catch 3 of the 4 kittens. The 3 were taken to a no-kill shelter and all have been adopted. The fourth is still around and is next on my list for TNR. You did the right thing, and even though it is heartbreaking you should be commend for saving the kittens as well as spaying, vaccinating the mother. If only there were more kind souls like you out there. Good job and God bless.

If she was a nice cat, and she had all of her shots, I would trap her and take her in your home and find her a new home. You can also have her with the kittens, but you have to watch. Do not release the kittens whatever you do. You did the right thing completely, but you might be able to find the mommy a home too.

Good luck!!

Do you want the cat?

Try leaving food outside and maybe she'll adopt you. If you can get her to eat from your bowl, you can let her have the kittens back and (while she will take them away) you've established yourself as a place to go to for help. You may then get the kittens back.

I had a cat that was very feral and after getting beat up, he came to my house for help. He lived with us for many years after that.

You know you really shouldn't do that, what you should do is don't let the mom run around in your yard keep her in the trap let the kittens nurse then get the kits out and raise them.

And as for fostering them? And I think you need to tell the ASPCA what you鈥檙e doing.
And you really shouldn't be playing around with FERRAL CATS thanks for spaying though ;)
