If you have a GPA below 2.0 and make a good score of your college placement test, can you still receive...?

Can you still receive financial aid? I messed up in the past. But now am determined to do great and raise my GPA and get my degree. But I can't attend college without financial aid.

I will be transferring from another college. Even though it has been almost 3 years since I left my other one.

try community college for at least a year...if you try hard enough and get good grades getting in will be much easier.
community colleges give financial aid for ppl w/o good grades so you should be fine.

The unfortunate thing about your situation is colleges in the US, for the most part, look for people who will succeed in the academic path they have chosen. You have shown that you do not want to prepare yourself to succeed in this path. It is now going to be hard enough to convince a college to take you much less get financial aid.

My suggestion is that you try to get your grades up in Junior College. In PA we have very nice Community Colleges. You can apply to a 4 year school after you have proven what you say above in a 2 year college. Most likely, Jr. Colleges will not cost that much and will help you with aid. You will need to do very well to get into a 4 year school with any kind of a scholarship following your 2 years at Jr. College.

That is the way you should go.

Really? Wouldn't it be nice if that determination lasted more than the first few weeks of the semester... Believe me, if you keep hitting a wall, try something else. College can be a depressing place when you start slipping and can't regain your footing. Try a trade or something.
