What causes low creatinine level in a man with AIDS?

He was given a urine drug test, he was told he was drinking to much water trying to pass a drug because his creatinie was low. The only drugs he uses is the ones for the aids. He is in prison and has only water to drink. What would cause his creatinine level to be low?

Low creatinine levels in AIDS patients are caused by the generalized wasting of body tissues resulting from the disease. The reason that he was told to cut down on water drinking must be due to the fact that the excessive water is diluting his medications making them less effective & creating an imbalance of his electrolytes. With proper drinking amounts, hopefully creatinine levels would appear more normal.
