Baby is STILL constipated?

Baby boy is STILL constipated. Had breastmilk until 2 months old. went back to work, WIC put him on Enfamil Lipil. After his 4th month started noticing he was having problems pooping. Started giving him apple/prune juice. Worked for a while , then he started having problems again. Around his 5th month, WIC changed over from Enfamil to Similac. Each time he DID go no.2, I noticed he was straining. Meaning he would scream and holler and cry, and cry. I try not to be the pest mom when it comes to my doctor, so I literally tried everything before I went to him. Apple/prune juice, apple juice, prune juice, baby food prunes, karo syrup light and dark (just to be sure there wasn't a difference) I even went and got suppositories. The suppositories worked twice, then even they didn't work. Dr. has ran tests and the only thing he can find is that my baby is anemic. I am at my wits end. He is 10 months old now, and still has yet to poop without the aid of me helping him. ANY advice will be appre.

I had the same problem with my first daughter. She had a horrible problem with constipation while on formula. I ended up switching to a low iron formula (wic has that, too) and that helped a little. But the best thing that helped was Little Tummies Infant Laxative. I asked my Dr. before I gave it to her because she was so small, and she said it was fine. I put two drops in her first bottle every day (not every bottle, just one a day) and it helps a ton. As she got older I had to add another drop. When she turned one and got off formula her constipation went away completely.

Continue feeding him the baby food prunes and put some in his bottles if your ok with that. And i take he is on the similiac sensitive. Also with the suppositiries kind of a weird question but are you sure you're pushing them far enough in, my nephew had the same problem and i was not putting them in far enough when i watched him. But finally his mom told me that and he never had a problem after that

The same thing was happening to my son. luckily all it took was to switch from good start formula to Similac, now he's normal. But i tried everything you mentioned, it so stressfull :[

try inserting a thermometer with vaseline a few times for a day; insert in his bottom I mean. That helped with my daughter.

I feel so sorry for you and your baby.
These foods are excellent for encouraging bowel movements:
Pear, raisins, banana, apricots. All these can be stewed and mashed. Basically you need to leave the skin on because this is actually the fibrous material that pushes the waste out of the bowel with more ease.
Also, if you buy some tins of haricot beans and make a veggie stew with the beans that will be excellent because the skin on the beans is also really fibrous.
If you buy brown wholegrain rice, boil for 20 to 30 minutes depending on the rice. This is also excellent for pooing and tastes nice as long as it's cooked for long enough.
Sweetcorn and peas are also excellent for pooing.

I hope this helps your little baby. Things with skin on are the best so it's much more effective to give pear with skin on than not on at all. Anything with tough skin or if your baby won't eat the skin, stew the fruit and mix with greek yoghurt.. yum!!
