Can I go to college without loans? When i don't know why to go?

I'm 20 and have never really considered college now and my parents say I need to go, everyone says everyone does it so I need to do it. I have almost a year worth of credits I received at a private school with a pretty good GPA but I'm not sure what it, I was homeschooled 10-12th grade with distance ed correspondent schools, my GPA is pretty good Mainly A's a few B's one C chem. But I earned a gpa of 3.89 at the private college 12 grd. My parents are divorced, dad doesn't pay child support, mom works all the time but makes more than low-income but doesn't have much extra money when all said and done, too busy to even file her own taxes. On my own I don't have enough money right now for college, I've probably missed all of the financial aid deadlines and it's too late for me to take a standardized test this year. Does anyone know of any scholarships or grants that are out there that I might be able to qualify for? I am in MN. Counsel?

You are not too late to apply for financial aid. you must complete the FAFSA now. You must use the taxes of the parent who you lived with the most for the last 6 months. If it is your mother, than you must use her income tax. There may be a possibility that you can receive some grants or scholarships, or at the very least, student loans that do not have be paid back until 6 months after you graduate.

Tell your mom that if she wants you to go to school she must complete her taxes so you can complete the FAFSA. Also check with the financial aid office for any special scholarships that they may have for their school.

There are many people that wait this late, don't wait anylonger. Make a choice where you want to go and go talk to the student adviser. They will help you find other financial assistance. FAFSA!! its great!! you can apply for grants...which is just free money. and at some places you can apply for loans that dont have to be paid back until a certain time after you graduate

Yes, it is quite possible to attend college without taking out student loans. I did. I had to work to earn the money beforehand and then I enrolled. (However, this might not work for everyone.)

But there is no point in you attending college if you don't want to. It's not like high school, as I'm sure you're aware. You have to have at least some desire to go, not just because your parents are pushing you. So make your own decisions - you're old enough. Decide what *you* want to do with your life.
