Strep throat question? please help?

does strep throat go away without the aid of an antibiotic? if so, how long will it take?

Additional Details: I am pretty sure I have strep. I don't want to go get a strep test because i'm afraid of them. yes, it's pathetic, but when they stick that thing down my throat, blech....anyway, help!

you NEED antibiotics. The test is not that bad, my 10 month old son had one just last week ( it was negitive) so, suck it up and take care of yourself!!

It honestly depends on your symptoms. Check your tongue...is it white? Do you have a high spiking fever? Are you fatigued? If so, go see your doc, gagging or not. You'll need antibiotics. Both of my daughters got strep at least once a month and eventually had to have their tonsils removed. Don't chance it. And don't wait. High fevers can land you in the hospital fast and they'll do a whole lot most than gag you with a little stick....needles are way worse. be well.

No, I don't think strep goes away w/o an antibiotic. In fact, I think it'll just get worse because the infection can spread from just your throat to other parts of your body via your blood. Then, you could a blood infection. This happened with a kidney infection I had once. It sucks. See the doctor.

no. it takes 10 days with an antibiotic prescribed to me.
when i was in kindergarten, mi bff was a carrier and gave it to me 4X the test was no worse than the piss in the cup thing (i also had a ton of bladder infections)

if you hold ur breath while they do it or breath in, it is painless and u do not gag. hope dis helps!

are your glands swollen and do you have white puss on them and is your throat red? if so yes it is probably strep. if you don't go to the doctor it will take a looooong time for it to go away. i know the strep test does suck. but that's the only way they can test it.

You might have tonsilitith. If you are feeling sick often and have white stuff at the back of your throat which comes and goes you may need your tonsils examined.

If you don't treat strep with antibiotics it will not go away, in fact it will kill you! Strep is not something to play around with. However, 80% of sore throats are not strep so give it 2 weeks and then see.

I know you don't want to do that but you need to go to the doctor before it gets even worse..i would gargle some salt water and suck on some Popsicle's..until you go to the doctor..so go get it over with so you get better..get well honey
