Why is Peta So Hypocritical?

I don't get it... Why do they have to be so hypocritical? And why do they have to be so extreame? They only set themselfs up for more failure. They Target KIDS and are highly against any animal items... they also said they would rather not have a cure for aids if it involved animal testing.... they just seem so awful..

Yes.... I was looking at there website and they have a KIDS section... which I was personally appauled by. They are telling kids not to drink milk and what not... Its such a horrible thing they are doing. Im no vegan, but I respect peoples choices. Peta does not seem to respect my choice to eat meat... which is annoying. There is NO better source of protein then the protein you get from animal products.

The most simple and direct answer to your question - is because of GREED!

The love of money is indeed the root of all evil.

Sounds like you found the "Peta Kills" site. Lots of information on there that - sadly - many don't want to look at or even consider - and still will support such groups.

I understand what you mean. I am a little embarrassed by them sometimes.

I myself don't think they should use half naked and sometimes fully naked women in their campaigns. I think you can get the point across without that kind of stuff. I have 2 little boys that I don't want to be around that kind of stuff.

They also say you shouldn't have pets, which I disagree with. I think if you adopt pets that were homeless and take really good care about them you are in the right.

Thanks for bringing this up.

It's also your choice to not go to the website and read what they believe in isn't it? Does PETA stop you from eating meat? NO...you are being extreme and you look silly.

calm down
there is not that many and sooner or later they will fail..
JUST remember they have been good at many new laws passed...
Just because they use terrorist methods,,.???

You're right, PETA have gone to such extremes that only the most severe animal rights activists actually join them. They've released animals that stood to be harmed, maimed, hit by a car, or what have you because they don't believe in keeping them in captivity. They also have ties to groups that used to spike trees which cost the lives of loggers. Not cool.

It seems to me they would find their efforts and money better spent by taking less extremist positions. Many of us have objections to animal cruelty- just how we define it is different. I think Peta should help focus efforts on spay/neuter programs to lower the number of unwanted pets in shelters, education, shot clinics, etc. HELP the people help the animals- don't prance around preaching that eating meat is the same as the Holocaust- it's NOT!

I used to raise rabbits for show, pet, meat, fur, etc. You can bet your bottom I squared off with many an ARA (animal rights activist), and the one point I could never get across to them- if these animals lived as "god intended" as they insist they should, half would starve, most wouldn't live past 6 months (speaking of rabbits here), they would have babies every 28-32 days vs controlled breed of 2-3 times per year, and would likely die from being ripped apart by a predator. Pretty gruesome if you ask me- far more inhumane than what MOST encounter in captivity.

If you have a heart to help animals but are turned off by PETA's extremist points of view- why not look to your local animal shelters or rescues and offer to help with time or money. They could always use it!

Take care!

That's a good question. I think sometimes it's OK to be an extremist. For instance, I'm an extremist when it comes to rape -- I'm against it all the time. I'm an extremist when it comes to child abuse -- I am against it all the time. Moral truth often is extreme. Just because a position is extreme, it isn't automatically wrong. Would you agree?

Meat and dairy companies also target kids through advertising. Commercials on kids' channels like Nickelodeon tell kids they should nag their parents until their parents let them eat fast food. Organizations that promote animal testing have created and distributed school materials promoting animal experimentation. Are you against this, as well?

I've seen PETA's site for kids and it seems pretty tasteful. They have contests, homework help, info about celebrities, etc. No graphic video footage or upsetting stuff like that. I'm sure other non-profits have kid-oriented websites to get youth involved in a particular social issue.

About animal testing, PETA doesn't believe that the ends justify the means. Imagine if someone confined a human to a cage against his or her will and did excruciatingly painful, invasive experiments on that person. Would you still be against it even if it could produce some benefits?

PETA is an animal rights organization and not a humane society. Contrary to popular belief, PETA does not run an adoption facility. The organization refers most adoptable animals to well-known shelters with a high rate of public traffic. PETA serves as a "shelter of last resort" for animals who are injured, elderly, aggressive, or otherwise unadoptable. Euthanasia is a kindness in certain situations, when animals would otherwise suffer a slow and painful end. People don't drop off healthy animals at PETA's office (since the organization doesn't operate an adoption service.) PETA deals with the worst of the worst situations.
