hi im 38 now but started taking lessons when i was 16 until 24 with numerous instructers finally giving up as nothing sank in now at the age i am i realize i want to pass my test but now there,s the thoery ..and as much as i study or take the mock test i am bloody hopeless with signs ..although in case of a crash emergency first aid i got all them right ..(maybe i should give up driving and be a nurse....WHO HAS TO GET A BUS............)

sorry question is whats thebest way to study the theory i,ll pass the driving flying colors ..dont ask y....can some 1 helppp plzzzzzzzz
i really really dont want to go back to basics ,start at the begining plz help

Just read the handbook and study this with a friend, you are at an age where this should be a piece of cake for you, just relax and the next time you will do just fine..

Hi

I gather by the way you write you would tend to be a Hands on Type of person. So you would find learning the signs better if you could be shown them & they are explained to you in a matter of fact way.

I would suggest 2 options. 1 you couldvisit www.highwaycode.gov.uk & download the pictures of the signs then drive around your area trying to spot the different signs. Or 2 by a DVD or CD Rom to practise the Theory test in your own way & time.

Just take time out and read the Highway Code, it'll soon sink in, i done it fine but now 3 years later i'm still not sure of all the signs! Also now you need to do the Hazard Perception which is quite tricky but you'll get a disk that you can practice with, just practice until you feel confident enough to go for it!

Good luck!

Try buying this CD - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Driving-Test-Suc...

It has mock tests on it with questions that are very similar to what show up on the real test. Memorise the questions and answers on here and you will be fine. It also has lots of hazard perception videos like the ones that will be on the test.

I used this CD and I passed the theory test with nearly full marks, without it I don't think I would have done so.

As a driving instructor I would help you by explaining the highway code and giving you ways to remember signs, colours, shapes etc. I have a few pupils who struggle with some of the theory of driving or the hazard perception part of the test but are fine once they understand what they have to read, learn and practice. A lot of pupils worry too much about the test, find a good instructor in your area - try to get one recommended by a friend - and they should help. There are lots of ways to learn. Just because you are 38 does not mean you will not be ok to pass....my oldest pupil - who incidentally was dreading his theory - is 65 and passed theory last month! Good Luck

Hi, I took my theory test 11 days ago and passed with flying colours....50 out of 50.
I studied relentlessly for months, using this PC CD

There wasn't a chance in hell I would have even scraped a pass without putting in hours and hours of practice tests, some revision of the highway code and road sign tests. Not to mention the hazard perception section.
I strongly recommend it.

I also found it invaluable to keep a notebook with me whilst practicing....I'd jot down all of the things I was struggling with, drew diagrams, etc. I'd say THATS the key in passing!

It's so essential to know your theory, it seems that the majority of drivers just don't care which is even more of an incentive to ensure your safety!
I took my practical 3 days ago and passed first time :)
100% needed my knowledge of the road in the test too!

Hope that helps!

A jet-liner mechanic came to me and asked me what would be the best way to get most of the 180 questions on the test he was uncertain of; because he had a problem memorizing theories, questions, etc. I suggested a tape recorder. Read slowly to yourself, and record what you read, mindful of the fact that (despite being quite boring to listen to yourself), your voice has the best chance of drilling-in the responses needed to secure your passing any test, or, in your case, memorizing and associating colors with signs and the like. Record yourself. Avoid using "um's" and aaah's and "..er, " in your own recordings and always pause after each question and answer. For example: "The speed limit for Big Rigs in California is ...? [pause] and then respond to the proper answer. Do this for each segment or question, until you have all of them recorded. Please, don't use a digital recorder. Buy a $35 mini-tape from Radio Shack, the ol' fashioned one with real batteries to accomplish this task. My jet-liner mechanic friend (via repetition of his own voice) passed the exam. Listen to yourself at least an hour a day, two if you can stand the sound of your voice. And it works ! I guarantee it is the best method of memorizing simple to complex test questions if your are over 35. Not everyone interned on cellular degradation who is over 35 may agree. Good Luck !
