I'm a failure....i have no discipline and i want to give up?

im 22 and im going into my last semester of college, im a very smart girl. i have gotten A's on tests and a lot of times i do not attend class. basically i know my stuff, but i just dont have any ambition to do the work....i lost my scholarship and im on financial aid probation( i have a 2.3 gpa). im probably never going to attend grad school and im just going to have a sucky life. i mean idk know if im going to even finish up my last semester bc i dont have the money to pay for it. so what can i do to get myself back on track?

dude you are so smart, why are you doing this to yourself..... i mean there are loads of people out there that would kill to get A's on tests without studying!!!!! what you need to do is FOCUS!!!!!! plan a schedule for yourself. thats what i do. i know its hard your like this work is so dumb it doesnt mean anything and it doesnt matter. the truth however is that it really does matter. focus on the material given to you. form study groups that way you stay on tract but you also can receive the help that you may need and or give people so help. offer assistance with certain courses for those people who need it-you'll find that not only does it ingrain material into your head but it helps out others who may need help. if that doesnt work go get professional help. ask them how you can get your life on tract!!! good luck:)

oh and never give up!!!! you can do it all you have to do is TRY!!!

Have your thyroid checked, and if your GP doesn't find anything wrong have it checked again by a capable endocrinologist. Sometimes there can be a subtle
imbalance that does not show up on your run of the mill
thyroid test. I can however affect your whole life in the way
you describe. Get the book "thyroid power". Amazon has it.
I forget the author. good luck to you. I hope things improve.

talk to your counselor they can probably give you better advice then I ever could. Don't give up, especially not now that it's almost over. You can still make it.

You sound like you may be a little depressed. You need to see what the school has available as far as counciling. You may need to talk to someone to help you find some direction.

Are you going to a lot of parties? If so you may need to back off.

Do you have many friends? If not that may be part of the problem. If you do you need to ask yourself if they are helping to motivate you or are they pulling you back.

Maybe you need to join a club. Get involved in something that is important to you.

Do Not Give Up Now. You need to finish, it will have an effect on the rest of your life even if you don't see it right away.

You should also try to find a local church. Shop around until you find one that has special programs for people your age.

Hang in there, you can do it, and don't be affraid to reach out to the administration for help.
Good luck to you.

We only put effort into things that really matter to us. By the sounds of it, your heart is not in to college right now. Why don't you put your academic life on hold for a couple of years, explore other areas of interest, and in the future, if you want to go back no problem. If you don't want to go back, it will probably because you found something you are more interested in. I quit school when I was 20. I had a lot of fun traveling the world, living in different places and meeting new people. At 37 I decided I was ready for school. I got my undergrad degree psychology and am finishing up my masters. I would have never known what my passion was if I had just stuck in school when I was in my early twenties.

I know that the debt is probably looming over your head, but adding to it for something you don't love will only compound the matter. Everything is feeling larger than life to you right now,but things will balance out. Give your self a break and listen to your gut (or at least your behavior).

I don't think my answer helped you get back on track... but may be you should trade tracks. :-)

You don't sound very smart to me. You cut class and end up with a 2.3 gpa. Whats so smart about that? I think you are lazy and selfish. Seems you want to throw away your life instead of using the brain that God gave you to finish and live a productive life. Selfish? Because you used scholarship monies that someone that could and would have used wisely had to do without. You robbed them just to become a drop out. Suck it up and get busy. Get a job and finish what you have started. Be somebody, make something of yourself. You are 22. You are supposed to be an adult. Stop wining like some little kid and grow up. You can do it if you put your mind to it.

I guess your question can be summarised as "Help why am I going wrong when I know that I am being self destructive?"

One answer may be that you have depression now or you may have been abused in the past and told you would never achieve anything and have accepted this in the present via so called learned helplessness http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Learned_hel...

Another answer to the paradox can be found in the idea that you may have put your ego above yourself: You say you are a very smart girl but what if you just want to believe you are very smart for reasons of egotism? If your ego doesn't want to accept you are less smart than you claim then the very best thing it could do to you would be never to let you question how smart you really are - right? It would never let you put yourself in a position where you would discover you aren't as smart as you think... That's kind of the way you are behaving - Remember there are plenty of hard working people who would not describe themselves as very smart that are getting better grades than you - If you read a little bit about the ego in philosophy you will come across what it means to be enlightened: There is a simple solution to all your problems WAKE UP!
