What's a good language learning software to learn Japanese?

I know VERY basic stuff, like basic greetings and grammar rules but would like to move further using computer software.

Rosetta Stone might be a little expensive for me- is it really worth the cost? Whats the net best thing?

Books and audio things withough visual aids don't help me... I need something that can test me and tell me if i'm making mistakes.

I've tried the Rosetta Stone demo, but is this (picture/guesswork) method the only way it teaches you? is there anyother way?

I'm 14 and attend a language college where i learn french and german- unfortunately japanese isn't an option! They just don't have the teachers!

What do you suggest?
