If you give blood at a high school do they test you for aids before you give blood? Or would they let you give blood then test it and decide if they are gonna use the blood or not?

No. You do not need to be tested prior to donating blood however you are required to TRUTHFULLY answer a questionnaire which will determine whether you are at high risk of Hepatitis or HIV infection (IV drug use, etc.) If you 'fail' on the questionnaire they will not accept you as a donor. There are other factors that can influence this decision (recent cold or flu, travel to certain countries...etc.) If your blood is taken it is then tested for HIV and Hep and if for any reason you do test positive for either of these diseases you would be notified. Giving blood truly is the gift of life.

Blood gets screened after donation. If anything comes up positive they won't use it.

You would have to go get a separate test to test for HIV.

Although, if you think you have it, it would be courteous to simply not donate blood, because even though HIV tests are generally very accurate you wouldn't want to knowingly introduce HIV positive blood into the system in order to prevent someone from accidentally receiving your blood.

No you don't get tested before hand. They have you fill out a questionaire about your history and then there is a box you can check that says don't use my blood if you think something may be wrong.
