Am i being punished?

I am a catholic and I havent been going to church the past 3 weeks. 4 weeks ago, my friend killed himself and I paid respects to him the buddhist way because he's buddhist. But I feel like ever since then, my luck has gone bad.
1. Finances are way down, I'm left with $10 in my account every week for our family of 4.
2. I can't seem to get a job, have been failing test to further consideration.
3. My cell got cut off
4. My kids and my family all got sick and had to go to the ER
5. My financial aid for college has been denied and we are a low income family.
Our stress level and troubles have hit a low. Is this because of paying respects to a suicide or just God telling me that I don't give him enough?

no...it sounds more like poor financial planning. You've obviously been having money problems way before you stopped going to church. Maybe you should consider budgeting your money a bit better and spending your Sundays at a second job instead of church.

Huh... I wouldn't blame a god for that- sounds too much like reality takin' a dump in your lap.

Overcoming poverty is extremely difficult in the US... becoming poor is extremely easy (as I'm sure you can tell).

I've lived that life... I made it out and STILL had a blast along the way. Don't let it get you down... things can go your way if you make them.

Don't be silly. If you can't get financial aid, get a job until you can afford to take classes. I'm sorry about your friend but any God that would punish you for showing respect probably wouldn't help you out anyway.

Look. God loves everyone he loves u to. He never punishs anyone. There is nothing wrong with paying rspect to a good friend. try to talk God, trust me it will help i know from experince. sometimes i consider God my best friend , and i tell him everything. It helps, really.

god is not punishing u becuz u paid respects to a suicide or not giving him enough. here is a news flash for you: its called life. these things happen. do not be angry at god becuz this is happening for a reason.

These things don't sound like a matter of luck. Everything is a matter of cause and effect. That's in the bible, and practically every other religious text of the entire planet.

You are using your beliefs to find a scapegoat for your own circumstances. I suggest you think in a more practical way and concentrate on the CAUSE of all the effects that your blaming anything religious for whats happened.

God put you on earth so that you can honor him through your life, your actions. Do whatever you have to do, and be as practical as you can. Use the world God gave you to be a Good Christian. You HAVE TO be practical.
I don't know the specifics of your problems. Maybe you should find a new way to search for jobs and/or redo your resume. Perhaps, a more nutritious diet and/or multi vitamins will help your family feel more healthy. Try appealing your student loan. I have heard of appeals winning. Anyway, its these kinds of things that you should be concentrating on. You know better than me, what you need to do in a practical way. Change the cause, change the effect.

it can be very possible that you are being punished. Maybe the Lord God wants you to notice what he wants a relationship with you. But we all need is a relationship with Jesus Christ. like he once said

oh and one thing I want to bring up. Can you find anywhere in the Bible were it tells you that a church is a building. That's just something I thought was interesting, and I think I've ever seen Jesus asked for money or build cathedrals that's probably another thing I just want to add.

The only answer I have is what has worked in my life. I used to feel like you do and have lots of events happen that were negative. But one day, I just asked God to please help me to make Him 1st in my life. And once I made God the priority, then everything else just fell into place! No, its not always great, and bad things still happen. But its the way I respond to them that has changed. I am so thankful for what I DO have and I pray constantly. I read my Bible every day and try to live as Jesus would want me to live. Sometimes God does try to get our attention but please don't think He is punishing you. There is a really great book called God's Power To Change Your Life by Rick Warren. It is so excellent and it really has some great advice in it. Have a great afternoon.

I'd say it has nothing to do with either. Things happen in our lives for us to rise to the occasion, to stand up to them and see how we can make them better instead of giving up on them.

The rug came out from under me too at one time in my life and it lasted a good while. I could either sink or swim, I chose to swim. It wasn't easy either, but I literally got tired of hearing myself complain about my life so I decided to get off of my pity pot and turn it all around.

It came so I could conquer it, with God's help. That's just what I did too. :)

so what if he was buddhist, you are not. You need to get with God. You need to read your Bible and ask forgiveness.
