Any books in particular that you think I should add to the list?

I recently received and amazon gift certificate...I decided to buy books with it. Here's what I've chosen so far:

-A Brief History Of Time by Stephen Hawking
-Moody Food (a novel based on the life of Gram Parsons) by Ray Robertson
-The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams
-The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
-Scaramouche by Rafael Sabatini
-Candide by Voltaire
-Beyond Good and Evil by Nietzsche
-Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs
-Walden and Civil Disobedience by Thoreau
-The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe
-Hidden Faces by Salvador Dali

So, based on that list, what else do you think I would like that I might not have heard of? Thanks!

Oh man, what a great list! It warms my heart to see it. Also, I want a friend like the one who gave you that gift card! Can I come over?
OK. Sorry.
Um,

Sometimes A Great Notion ~ Ken Kesey
Jitterbug Perfume ~ Tom Robbins
The Beach ~ Alex Garland
Less Than Zero ~ Bret Easton Ellis
The Songlines ~ Bruce Chatwin
The Sparrow ~ Mary Doria Russell
Going To the Sun ~ James McManus
A Keeper of Sheep ~ William Carpenter
Neverwhere ~ Neil Gaiman
Mother of Storms ~ John Barnes

Well, I could run on forever here, and I'm sure your gift isn't limitless. These are some good books though, I hope you find something you want. Have fun!

PS) If you only buy one of them, buy Sometimes a Great Notion. It is a killer book.

No matter what types of books you like,
you should definitely read,
She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb.
it was a life-changing book.

The World According to Garp, by John Irving
On the Road, by Jack Kerouac
Howl and Other Poems, by Allen Ginsberg
Women in Love, by DH Lawrence
Lady Chatterly's Lover, also by DH Lawrence

Eva Luna or The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende

And the Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde. You need a little more light reading! It should appeal to your literary sensibilities while still allowing you a fun break.

Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov.

I absolutely think that everyone should read Lolita at least once, regardless of their preferred genre.

Lady Chatterley's Lover by DH Lawrence
Captain Corellis Mandalin

if you like Thoreau check out Essays and Poems by Ralph Waldo Emerson

if u are a girl u should get sisterhood of the traveling pants all four

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer or Uglies by Scott Westerfeld.
