I have a friend that thinks she has the Aids virus? |
she has had 3 tests all negative, but she was working in Dubai and had to have treatment over there. She is now spotting blood between periods, her G.P says nothing to worry about but she is just panicking and i can't convince her she is o.k.. What can i say.... Help please Spotting between period probably has 1001 different causes and aids is almost certainly not one of them. The test work by detecting the antibodies made against the virus - if she really wants an acurate test then she should demand a PCR test for HIV, its a little pricey but its 99.9% accurate and it will be accurate at anytime during the infection - the ELISA test or antibody test only works after a while after infection as the body needs to produce anti-bodies. I don't think spotting is a symptom of the hiv virus. If her doctor tells her she's fine, and her tests are negative, I think that her problem is psychological. I have the same psychological problem. If she's had the tests, all negative, then there really isn't anything to worry about. Maybe she should talk to someone about her anxiety over being sick. she has an emotional and/or mental illness. get her to a good therapist. |
