Can my work force me to leave, if i said i was leaving a while back, without a written notice? |
I said to my boss 7 weeks ago, I have got another job awaiting, but cant give you a leaving date. As I have to wait for first aid test results and my CRB check to come back. So, they have now replaced me, and asking me to leave within 2 weeks... can they do this? I never gave them a written notice! No they can't. Verbal contracts are usually binding (except for a few exceptions, verbal contracts are just a binding as written contracts). Put yourself in his place. An employee tells you he is leaving, then keeps hanging around- does not give you an end date or anything. I would assume that the written notice is just a formality. If I was your employer and you told me you had another job, I would also be looking for and hire your replacement. The work needs to be done and they did what they had to ensure that business proceeds. Good luck with your new job. .of course they can , they have to found someone to replace you. If you are not in a union a employer can fire you just because he or she want to, nope they need written notice you could sue the company if u like for improper dismissle but if u got another job u probs wont get much They cannot force you out - one thing - they can FIRE you. But there is no real reason to do that. |
